I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one in love with music to the point of having an emotional connection with them (laugh all you want), but I do. All of the songs I will list aren't the only ones I feel something deeper, I have hundreds of songs that I listen to because they speak my language. However, I shall only list ten. Below I give the ten songs that speak to me on the deepest of levels.
1. "Outro" by M83
I first heard this song when I was in the mountains of Wyoming the Summer of 2014. The song itself sounds like it's echoing through the valleys and when it peaks, it makes you feel like you're at the very top of the mountain. Every time this song comes on, I get goosebumps and a flashback to the top of the mountain I was on. It's breathtaking, it's beautiful, it speaks more than words.
2. "Rise Above" by Reeve Carney, Bono, The Edge
This song is very deep, as well. The lyrics itself speak to me, "I miss you in everything, I was too fast traveling, To take you in, I know, silence is no crime, Just wish I could hear you fill it up, One more time..And you say rise above, Open your eyes to love, And you say rise above yourself."
3. "Kids" by MGMT
I really don't know why this one gives me flashbacks to younger days, because I didn't really listen to it that often, but the meaning behind it kind of gives me reflections of what I used to do when I was younger and how it made me who I am today.
4. "Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot
Oh, man.. Where do I begin with this one? The lyrics are pretty self explanatory. This song has inspired me and helped me through some of the lowest points of my life so far. So thank you Switchfoot for that one.
5. "It Ends Tonight" by The All-American Rejects
Just like most of their songs, and most of the songs I've already listed, these lyrics are so completely relatable and so meaningful.
6. "Move Along" by The All-American Rejects
Boom, I told you. Another amazing, honest, helpful song that helped me through my dramatic preteen years and early adulthood by the All-American Rejects.
7. "If Today Was Your Last Day" by Nickelback
I really don't understand why everyone hates Nickelback, they've written a lot of good songs! I'll just leave this one here for you all to decide.
8. "Crack the Shutters" by Snow Patrol
This one reminds me of how much I was in love. It's extremely beautiful and so romantic. It makes me miss something I used to have.
9. "All I Need" by AWOLNATION
This one could be taken two different ways: He's talking about loving himself and only needing himself; or he's talking about being so in love with someone and their opinion is the only one that truly matters to himself. Either way, it's a good song!
10. "Be Yourself" by Audioslave
I heard this song around the time that my grandpa had a motorcycle accident and passed away from it. Since then, it's always felt like advice he would give me. I almost some of the lyrics tattooed on myself. He was a biker, so this song has that kind of rugged, rock vibe to it, while still being deep and meaningful. "Be yourself is all that you can do..."
