I'm an art major and I love it! Can I draw well? NO. But I'm still an art major. Keep that in mind the next time you ask an art major to draw you.

Here are 10 signs that show what art majors are and what we go through.

1. You're an art major, so can you draw me?

No I personally can't draw you and even if I could, I wouldn't.

2. So you don't have homework do you?

BIGGEST LIE EVER! OK, no I don't have normal homework full of English or math, but I do in fact, have homework. I have art projects, from photography to graphic design work, I have homework. However, we do still have to take regular classes and when we do, we have homework just like you. Either way, we HAVE homework!

3. Being asked "what are you going to do with your life?"

Well, let me tell you. I'm going to be a graphic designer and photographer. I'm going to get a job just like you and make money and have fun whilst doing it.

4. Being told "you aren't going to make money."

Last time I checked, I didn't ask your opinion. Also, I didn't choose my major to make money, I chose it because it's something I love.

5. You actually like going to your 3 hour studio classes?

3 hours?!?! What?!!? Yes, 3 hours, but it goes by fast when you're having fun!

6. "Cramming" for finals isn't studying, it's finishing a project that has taken you 20+ hours to do.

When you have an 8 am studio class and have at least a few more hours of work that could be done to your assignment and it is 2 am already.

7. All your money is spent on art supplies.

TRUE! Especially your first year. I don't have much to buy anymore, but honestly, just because I don't need it doesn't mean I won't buy it.

8. When one little thing gets messed up on your project, you redo the entire thing.

ME!

9. You hate it when people assume your life is easy.

Wrong again! So easy, we spend hours upon hours doing art and getting critiqued for it. But it's fun and we don't care what you say.

10. People assume you're going to be painting and drawing as your career.

No I am not doing traditional art, I'm a digital artist and dang proud!

Art is fun. Art can be hard. Art is relaxing and sometimes not. Art is amazing. Art is art.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
