10 Signs You're Already Missing Your College BFF

If you're like me, your best friend at college is like your sister. She's the first person there with a pint of Ben & Jerry's when a boy breaks your heart and the only person that can convince you to go out on a night that you were planning on staying in. When you went off to college some gravitational force pushed the two of you together and created the most unstoppable and dynamic duo. She is your person and you don't know what you would do without her. Here are some of the signs you're missing your college BFF as much as I'm missing mine.

1. You can't go a day without saying you miss each other.

If I haven't been in contact with my best friend in the past 24 hours, there's a 99% chance she is going to send me a text with an "I miss you" gif in the next 10 minutes.

2. Your bed feels half empty

All I want is to cuddle up with my best friend and have a deep conversation or a Netflix marathon while we drink hot chocolate.

3. You've been tagged in at least 30 relatable Instagram posts

My best friend never fails to find a hilarious post on Instagram that perfectly describes our friendship, boy problems, or our obsession with food.

4. You play "your jam" on a daily basis

As soon as I jump in my car I throw on either "Back to Back," "Blessings," "Sunday Candy," or "Bad Blood," just so I can feel a little piece of my best friend with me. Don't worry, I'm screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs as we usually do.

5. You sit around wishing you could go on an adventure together

I miss doing even the most mundane things with you. Please drive four hours to go to Trader Joe's for trail mix with me. I promise we can get Chipotle after.

6. You actually miss hearing about the boy drama

BFF: "I deleted him on Snapchat. I am so done with him!"

Me: "I'm so proud of you. He's a jerk and you deserve so much better. I wish I could come over with Ben & Jerry's."

*One day later*

BFF: "You're going to kill me, but I added him on Snapchat again."

7. And hearing her cry about pizza at 2am on a Saturday night

If we order a large veggie pizza from Domino's it still follows our diet, right? As nice as it is to have a detox from the junk food, I miss laughing at my best friend while she cries about pizza.

8. You wish someone was here to motivate you to go to the gym

If I don't bring my sneakers home with me I have an excuse for not working out all break, right?

9. Nothing makes you happier than getting life updates

Me: "You're still laying in bed too?"

BFF: "I've only gotten up for food."

Me: "Okay, just making sure I'm not the only one."

10. You're already planning your trip to visit

I miss you a lot. I don't think I can take a full month away from you. I'll be there in four hours.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
