10 Signs You're An Avid Reader

You’ve known how to read since Kindergarten, maybe before if you were lucky. Everyone reads daily, it’s kinda impossible for someone to go a full day without reading. Some people don’t read unless they have to. But sometimes there are those that devoured reading. Some that love it with all their soul. If you’re thinking: I think I’m a big reader but I’m not sure, well don’t you worry, I made a list just for you. Here are the signs that you’re probably a huge reader.

1. When you hear a story, your first thought is “That would make a great book!”

Stories are your life. You read them. You hear them all the time. So when one of your friends is describing a situation to you or something that happened to them, all you can think is: Wow, I’d read that book!

2. You probably really like quotes.

Words are your calling, so there are probably a few quotes you keep on your desk. Or perhaps you have an entire notebook dedicated to quotes that you’ve loved from a book you read. You might even be able to recite some of your favorite from memory.

3. Rain is your favorite weather.

Okay, rain might not be your absolute favorite weather, but you know what it means: reading day! You picture yourself by the window curled up with coffee or hot cocoa and a book in your hands. This is perfection right here.

4. You’re favorite outing is to a bookstore or a library.

You know where all the bookstores close to you are, as well as the libraries. When an outing comes in close proximity to one of these establishments, you know you have to go inside. How rude to simply just walk by?! You couldn’t do that to the store.

5. Goodwill Bookstore is the best place.

Yay for those 25 cent books! You know that when you are in a Goodwill or at a garage sale, the first thing you look at is the books. You could find the most amazing one in that stack. And pay less than a dollar for it? Score!

6. You’ve thought about becoming the next great author.

Come on, you’re lying to yourself if you say this isn’t true. You’ve even practiced your signature so it would look great (and take the least amount of time) for when you sign copies of your book.

7. You have a personal library.

You have that stash of books somewhere. You probably have a great bookshelf dedicated to all the books you own. You might even have then in alphabetical order. By the authors last name. No? Just me? That’s cool.

8. Books are the BEST presents.

When people ask you what you want for your birthday or for Christmas, your eyes roll on their own. The best present is a book. And if not that, then a gift card to a bookstore. Come on, we’re pretty easy to shop for.

9. The book is ALWAYS better than the movie.

No matter how close to the original text the movie is, you always love the book better. Now, you can admit that these movies are good and may even be pretty great... But you would choose the book over the movie every time.

10. It’s the best day when someone reads your favorite book and loves it.

Now you can share your love together! You don’t have to suffer in silence! Now you can fan-girl over that one scene where there’s a plot twist.

So there you have it, the signs that you might be a little in love with reading…or maybe a lot.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
