In college, there's always a specific list of things that only those who attend your specific campus can understand. If you're a student at the University of South Carolina (not that other "USC"), here are 10 things that you can definitely relate to:

1. St. Patrick’s Day is your favorite holiday.

2. If the Bull street garage if full, your next stop is probably home.

3. You receive more email notifications from the crime bulletin than you do from your professor.

4. Gameday is definitely not about the football

5. Since starting at USC, you have a new found hatred for trains.

6. You’ve adapted to waiting an ungodly amount of time for drunk cookout.

7. Your weekend always starts on Thursday.

8. You know that T-Coop is stricter on IDs after 9 p.m. than any bar in Five Points.

9. You’ve never left Cotton Gin without dripping sweat.

10. You're aware that the only thing rarer than finding parking on campus is a Gamecocks football win.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
