10 Roles You Didn't Know Nicolas Cage Auditioned For

He a is a one-of-a-kind actor who can whisper and scream his lines in a way that will leave you feeling uncomfortable or confused. He can change the whole vibe of a movie and not necessarily for the better. It's Nicolas Cage. And while he's best known for his roles in the popular "National Treasure" films, there are quite a few roles that we could have possibly seen him in. Here are 10 roles Nicolas Cage auditioned for, but did not succeed.

1. Katniss Everdeen from "The Hunger Games"

He wasn't quite as coordinated with a bow and arrow as Jennifer Lawrence proved to be. And he kept quoting the Declaration of Independence randomly.

2. Miley/Hannah from Disney Channel's, "Hannah Montana"

The singing just wasn't where it should've been for this audition and his voice was entirely too deep for the part of a teenaged girl.

3. Bella, Edward, and Jacob from "The Twilight" series

Cage wasn't exactly what author, Stephanie Meyer, had in mind. But the audition did have a lot of passion and deep emotion.

4. The famous green ogre, "Shrek"

Cage actually got the part, but then they decided to make "Shrek" an animation movie instead and he was really disappointed.

5. Snooki from "Jersey Shore"

He couldn't really pull off the Jersey accent and attitude like the producers hoped he would.

6. That one starfish from "Finding Nemo"

This role was close to happening, but Cage admitted he had trouble connecting with a starfish.

7. Ariel from "The Little Mermaid"

He truly wanted to break the barrier of gender roles and prove a man could play a Disney princess, but Disney felt differently.

8. Lord Voldemort from the "Harry Potter" series

Cage didn't really get a chance with this one because they chose the part right before he auditioned. He insisted they see him, but they refused.

9. Beyoncé in the documentary, "Life is But a Dream"

Beyoncé appreciated the audition, but she couldn't bring herself to approve this one. Nicolas Cage as Beyoncé just didn't make much sense.

10. The vicious shark in "Jaws"

The director was worried that if Cage played the shark, no one would step foot in the ocean ever again. Yes, he was that scary.

Unfortunately for Cage, he didn't receive a call back for any of these auditions. He for some reason or another lost the part or didn't quite meet what the directors had in mind. But these disappointments led him to other successful roles like "National Treasure" and "National Treasure 2." So everything does happen for a reason. And this hawk looks very much at home on his head and that's always a plus.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
