10 Reasons Your Aunt Is The Best
Giana Asterito

Your aunt is your No. 1 supporter. She's always there when you need her, and always has your best interest at heart. Hold your aunt close to you because:

1. She's always there to listen to your problems.

No matter what it is, your aunt is always there to listen to your problems, from boys, school, or even if you need to rant about your own parents—whatever you say, will stay with her. She’s like your own personal therapist, and the best part is: she wants to hear about your problems and always has the right things to say back.

2. If you don't want to talk about it, she's down to help you forget.

Screw the therapy session! She’s always down to go out and have fun with you, shop with you, have a few drinks, or give you the option—anything to help you forget about whatever the hell you don’t want to think about for the day.

3. She ALWAYS treats you right on your birthday.

When you get a card from her… you know exactly what’s inside

4.And also treats you great every other day of the year

Don’t worry aunts; we love you way more than just for the birthday cards.

5. She loves when you say you’re coming to stay the night

This means "The Bachelor," gossiping, and lots of laughs.

6. She cooks her best meals when you come to visit.

When you say you’re staying the night and your aunt’s cooks a seven-course meal. The food is so good it puts Chef Ramsay to shame.

7. She is your biggest cheerleader.

Your accomplishments are her accomplishments. She lives for the stories you tell about school, work, and everything in between; she wants to know it all. When something great happens she’s one of your first thoughts on whom to call.

8. She gets super emotional about your accomplishments.

You live for the words “I’m so proud of you” from your aunt. She has a way to make you feel so important, and makes you emotional when she starts to choke up talking about your success. Even if it’s the smallest accomplishment, she makes you feel like you’ve won a Nobel Prize.

9. She loves bragging about you.

You constantly hear “your aunt ______ told me…” and you know its because your aunt was bragging about you. Who cares? If she’s proud of you and wants to tell all of her co-workers and extended family, so be it. Aunts live for this stuff; so keep giving them things to brag about, you know it’s all out of love. If they think you’re not giving yourself enough credit, they’ll certainly make up where the credit is due by telling everyone how awesome you are.

10. Your aunt NEVER lets you forget how much she loves you.

If there’s one thing you never have to doubt, it’s your aunt’s unconditional love. She’ll call you to catch up, or just sometimes to tell you she loves you. Your aunt is your blessing in disguise, your mentor, and a best friend. The bond between you and your aunt is pretty special and undeniable. Never forget to remind your aunt how thankful you are for her, because that woman would do anything for you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
