10 Real Reasons Behind Why You Were Probably Late To Class Today

Professor- it's not you, it's me.

If you're a professor reading this, or a teacher- we're not late because we hate your class nor because we don't like you.

If we are being completely honest, we can often be too busy for class simply because of how much homework we have that week. There could be any reason for being late to class, but as a college student- you aren't questioned about where you were and given a late slip- so it is much easier to just slip in late.

Here are 10 plausible reasons why we may or may not have been late to class today.

1. You sit in the back by the door.

Therefore, it is so easy to slip in somewhat unnoticed (even though there are roughly 30 kids in the class).

2. You stopped and talked to friends.

Honestly, at a smaller school, this reason for being late is very common. On your way to class, you can't help but stop and say hi to friends, hang out with them, introduce them to your friends and meet their friends.

3. You are a college student deprived of sleep.

So, you probably fell asleep on accident and therefore were late to class. Or, you took a nap and ignored the alarm/ slept through it.

4. Traffic

Man is traffic bad at lunch hour and getting back onto campus takes five ever. No joke, I once sat in the turn lane for 20 minutes.

5. Food lines

A girl's gotta eat and when the food lines are eons-long, sometimes you have to make a sacrifice on what your body needs. If that means being a few minutes late in order to eat a meal- you gotta do what you gotta do at that point, am I right??

6. You tried on everything in your closet that morning.

You might be wearing running shorts to class, but you probably tried on at least six outfits in your closet in which you didn't allow for that much time in your schedule beforehand, therefore, you're going to be late.

7. Your bed was just too comfy

You tried to get out of bed, you set the alarm, but it just wasn't going to happen. I mean hey you'd rather be late than skip, at least you're still in class right?

8. Coffee

I mean if you're going to be late, at least you got coffee so that you're not sleeping in class. I'd call that a win. If you're already late to class, then whats a few more minutes while you wait for your coffee.

9. Needed to charge my laptop

If you don't sit near an outlet in class, a dead laptop won't help you at all. If a few minutes will give you enough battery to get through what you need to for class, then I'd say its worth it.

10. We are simply busy.

As college students, we live a crazy busy life and sometimes making it anywhere on time just doesn't happen because our schedules are so booked that we don't allow for transitions in between.

Speaking for college students in general, we do feel bad about being late to your class, most of the times. Here's an apology for our tardies, and a thank you for being understanding.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
