10 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Date A College Athlete

As a freshman in college, it's easy to have grand ideas about dating an athlete in college, but Taylor Swift said it best in her song "Fifteen:" "But in your life you'll do greater than dating a boy on the football team."

So, here are ten reasons why you shouldn't let a college athlete sweep you off your feet.

1. All they talk about is their sport.

Their whole life revolves around their sport. So naturally, they're going to talk about it—a lot. It's understandable. But having a conversation that's not about football is near impossible.

2. They have big egos.

The constant attention they get from girls, the student body, and the press can occasionally give athletes a big ego. For some of these athletes, it tends to go to their head.

3. They have no free time. EVER.

Between school, practice and conditioning, athletes in college don't have a lot of time on their hands. They're too busy with their hands on the ball to put their hands on you.

4. When they're not busy with school, practice or conditioning, they're sleeping.

I'll give it to these athletes, they work hard for their sport. They have to get up early for their 8 a.m. classes, and once they're done with classes for the day, they have to go to either practice or conditioning. By the time they get home, they're exhausted and just want to go to sleep. Totally understandable, and I get it, but don't get upset when they don't text you back or don't spend time with you because they're sleeping.

5. You think it's going to be like dating Tim Riggins, but it's not.

Anyone who's seen Friday Night Lights has had fantasies about dating Tim Riggins, or at least I have. Trust me, the fantasy of dating Tim Riggins is a lot better than dating some random college athlete. No matter how long his hair is, HE IS NOT TIM RIGGINS. DON'T BE FOOLED.

6. You can't work out with them, because, more than likely, they're way more in shape than you are, and by the end of it you're just going to feel bad about yourself.

It's an athlete's job to be in shape. You're about to get schooled.

7. 80 percent of the time you're probably dating a college athlete so you can brag to your friends about dating an athlete.

Lets be real, dating a college athlete is a big deal. You're basically dating a campus celebrity. It doesn't matter how much or how little playing time he gets, being seen with an athlete around campus looks good. More than likely you're going brag to your friends about it because who wouldn't? Also, lets be honest, you'll probably post a picture of you and him on Instagram with a caption like “number 41 on the field, and number 1 in your heart" for likes and to brag to your Instagram followers that you barely know.

8. College athletes can have any girl they want, and they know it.

Athletes aren't oblivious to their social status, they know they're hot-shots around campus, and they use this to their advantage when picking up girls.

9. They probably have six other girlfriends that you don't know about.

They can have any girl they want, and more than likely, they have ALL of those girls. Honey, you're not the only one. When it doesn't work out with one of those girls, he'll come crawling back to you.

.

10. You think your jealousy problem was bad before? Try dating an athlete, your jealousy will skyrocket.

Whether you're walking around on campus or going out on a Friday night, athletes have a distinct look. You can always spot them with their athletic backpacks strapped to their backs and decked out from head to toe with school's logo and the sport they play. This constantly causes other girls' attention to be drawn to them, and no one wants other girls looking at their boyfriend.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
