Anastasia, a film directed and produced by former Walt Disney Animation Studios directors, is a loose adaption of the legend of Anastasia, the Grand Duchess of Russia. While it was made in 1997, a year even before I was born. it's limeless story, and music make it a great animated film.
And with the story being told on the Broadway stage, it is time for Anastasia to finally get all the recognition this beautiful masterpiece deserves. Here are the top reasons why this story doesn't get enough credit, and why, it deserves to be watched.
1. The Musical Brilliance
Just listen to this song and try to tell me it's not iconically hypnotizing with Liz Callaway's delicate and alluring voice. Just try. Not to mention that it's not just this song that is amazing, it's all equally great. Not a song that I skip on the playlist.
2. The girl is blunt.

4. She's a dreamer.
Anastasia dreams. She dreams of her past and her future and shows us how it's okay to chase a crazy dream, no matter how insane.
5. Dimitri and Anastasia
Met when they were young, and reconnected when they were older. These two cuties have the best banter, fights, and love scenes ever seen in an animated film. Makes you want to find your own servant boy.6. Family
There's usually some sort of family drama in every film, and in Anastasia, it is no different. The film dives into the themes of family and finding out where you came from, as well as finding out who you are in the process. The theme is portrayed more darker under the circumstances of the historial knowledge, but altogether thrives and leaves you with a feel-good attitude at the credits.7. The laughs.
Unlike some animated films, this one will actually make you laugh out loud. The cheesy lines, and banter between all characters will make it hard not to at least smile.
8. The storyline.
It's brilliant.
Beautiful.

9. The kiss.
Probably one of my favorite animated movie kises. It's perfect, real, and not cheesy-but cheesy, all wrapped into one.
10. Pooka.
Cutest animal side-kick yet. Anastasia found a stray dog and named it Pooka.
11. This ending song.
A song performed by Richard Marx and Donna Lewis , it is the last on the soundtrack, but one of my favorites. The lyrics, the beat, the voices, everything. It all is beautiful and perfectly portrays the movie and does it justice.
So now that you've read this, go onto Netflix and watch it. Then rewatch it. Then go see the musical. Because this animated classic deserves all the recognition and credit. At least twenty-times the hype that Moana had.
