It's time of year again in the beautiful Allegany, New York, right where St. Bonaventure University resides, when we have become sick of the bipolar transition of summer to fall. We're done with freezing mornings and hot afternoons. We're tired of changing our outfits three times a day to accommodate the temperamental attitude of Mother Nature. We're ready for consistency again. We're ready for the change.

But that's not the only thing we're ready for. So here are 10 reasons why we're ready for fall.

1. Boots, jackets and new fall attire

One of the best parts about the change of seasons is the new clothes, the new outfits and the new styles that come out. Fall is my favorite season for clothes because I get to be comfortable in my leggings and sweater, and it's appropriate for the weather! Not to mention, the shoes. Booties, knee high boots, the newly trending peep toe, high heeled booties and so many other choices. There's no doubt that so many people are ready to go reinvent their closets this upcoming season.

2. Cinnamon & Pumpkin flavored EVERYTHING

One of the biggest things that occurs during the season of fall is that everything shifts into a cinnamon and pumpkin coma, at least for a couple months. We definitely don't mind because that means more chai lattes and pumpkin spiced lattes, along with some other seasonal favorites like caramel apple.

3. Haunted Houses & Hayrides

You know it's Fall when it's about to get spooky. Halloween is just around the corner and who doesn't love getting scared in a haunted house or a haunted hayride? Isn't that why we go anyway? Don't shut your eyes and try not to scream, but have a good time!

4. Apple picking & fresh apple cider

Okay so how can you not love apples? They get turned into so many fall favorites, too. Between apple cider, apple pie, applesauce and just, for the love of apples, we're ready for fall.

5. Scary movies

Another nice thing about Halloween being in fall are all the scary movies that come out in theaters. Move over sappy love stories and heart warming tales of miracles, and welcome back, scary stories of demons and spirits from beyond the grave.

6. Pumpkinville

So there's this little place right outside of town called Pumpkinville. They have some great baked goods, fall decor, cider and, of course, PUMPKINS! So if you're looking for a fun day through a corn maze and then leaving with your own pumpkin to carve and some cider in hand, it's definitely recommended.

7. Football season

We're back in football season and, though we're still in drought in Bills Country, we still have plenty to look forward to. Whether you're venturing up to Buffalo for a game or keeping up on your phone, there's always a reason to celebrate, and maybe go grab some wings down at Randy's.

8. The leaves changing

Since our beautiful, small campus resides at the foot of the Allegany mountains, we get to see all of the trees and shrubbery around us change colors. And when we go home for fall break and come back after the weekend, the drive will be beautiful. Not to mention, we have our own color changing buildings because of the ivy that thrives on them.

9. Fall Break

After a stressful first month of school, it's nice to go home for a weekend, catch up with friends and catch up with our families. We love our friends at school but sometimes, every once in a while, we get homesick, so this is the perfect time to get back home.

10. Fall festivities with friends

Although you might want to go do some of this stuff on your own, it's always fun to go make a day of it with some friends. Some of my fondest memories so far at Bonaventure had to do with hanging out with my friends and going to some of these places.

So, here's to fall and all of the pumpkin spice and cinnamon it comes with!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
