10 Reasons I Want To Be Back At MSU
Allison Murphy

How many times did I hear that college would be the best time of my life...infinite amount of times. How many of those times did I think how great could it possibly be...a lot. Boy were they right! College has so far been one of the best experiences of my life, even the academic perspective, and I only have finished my freshman year. I can not begin to describe how excited I am to start my sophomore year. When I see that Okemos exit sign on my way to school I get that instant rush of being ready to just be in my favorite place. Once I step foot on that campus again I will be back in my happy place!

1. Tailgates

Tailgates bring out the most fun in Michigan State, between hanging out with my friends all day, the tailgates themselves, seeing family, and of course the outfits. I thrive on the beautiful fall days where the hype is overwhelming.

2. My Big

I look forward to being able to spend the year with my other half. We always know how to have fun and I can't wait to do it all with her. We will have the most fun times and take random drives together.

3. My Sorority

When I decided to join a sorority it had to have been one of the best decisions I have ever made. i have meet some of my best friends in it. It has also opened me up to so many opportunities and friendships. I feel blessed to have such a fun and amazing group of girls I can call sisters.

4. Random Drives

Random drives can be so rewarding. It is just sometimes nice to get away from all the hectic times on campus. It is always fun to do it with friends as well. These drives can just be fun and peaceful. It makes you feel as though there is nothing else wrong in life in that moment.

5. 7-Eleven

7-Eleven run have to be an iconic staple up at Michigan State. When my mom went here she told me she used to do it all the time, and I'm glad I can carry on the tradition. Bring on the slurpies.

6. Fraternity Parties

I love the themes that fraternities manage to come up with. I also love just going out with my friends and being able to meet all new people and letting loose after a stressful week of school.

7. My Friends

I have loved all the amazing people I have got to meet this year. The people I have meet from my sorority, dorm, and classes have all been so enjoyable. I cannot wait for a whole year with these ladies again. There will be many more memories to come that I cannot wait for.

8. Football Games

Tailgates are good, but when you step foot in that stadium it is unbelievable. Every time I step into that stadium I get this surge of energy that can only come from game day. I love all the cheers and being united with my whole school. Win or lose, MSU knows how to do game day right.

9. Saint Patricks Day

If you know MSU you know that Saint Patrick's Day is a day practically devoted to the school. It is one day in the year where green is the color of the day even though it is the color every day at MSU. It was one of the most fun days at MSU.

10. The Campus

Campus is one of the most special places and I can't even begin to describe why. It has got to be the best college campus in my personal opinion, and I love to call it home.

So you may be able to tell that I love my school and I hope everyone else loves it just as much as I do! Who would have thought that my home away from home would become my home. Everyone was right; college has been the best time of my life so far.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
