The season of hayrides, caramel apples, and all things spooky is here. Grab yourself a pumpkin spice latte, throw on a cozy sweater, and think about all the wonderful things that take place in fall.
1. Autumn scenery
Finally, it’s the time of the year where you can stroll across campus without breaking a sweat or worrying about your face freezing off. An array of harvest colors surround the once green-leafed trees. Golden yellows, auburn reds and burnt oranges trickle to the ground after a strong gust of wind goes by. Soon, the trees will be empty and snow will start to fall. But, we don’t want to even consider that an option just yet.
2. Pumpkin anything and everything
Wherever you go, you can’t seem to escape it. The faint aroma of pumpkin and spices fills the air of coffee shops and stores across the country. From pumpkin-scented candles to the ever-popular pumpkin spice latte, this is without a doubt the fragrance of fall.
3. “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”
Apple pie, apple muffins, apple scones, apple cider and caramel apples. Is your mouth watering yet? Apple is a close runner-up to the pumpkin-flavored goodies this season. With all of these options, you aren’t going to see a doctor for a very long time.
4. Thanksgiving
The one day a year where it is socially acceptable to stuff your face until you feel like you’re going to die happens to land in fall. Just thinking of all the turkey, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie has my stomach growling.
5. Halloween
Being whoever you want to be for a day and eating way too much candy sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Get dressed up, hit the town and see all the crazy costumes other people came up with that you wish you had thought of first.
6. Sweaters
Waking up to the brisk, but not-too-cool air makes you feel energized and ready to take on the day. It’s time to trade in those tanks and sundresses for cozy and warm sweaters. Knits can add an extra dose of comfort to any ensemble.
7. Boots
Put away those sandals and flip-flops. Boot season is here. If you’re running late to class, throw on your sweatpants and UGGs. If there’s a day where you have your life together, pair your leather boots with the leg warmers that match your outfit perfectly. It’s time to take advantage of the footwear of fall.
8. Scarves
As if sweaters didn’t make you feel cozy enough, throw a scarf on top of it. With so many colors, patterns and materials, there will most definitely be one that fits with your style.
9. Trips to the pumpkin farm
Take a walk through a haunted house, find a pumpkin you want to take home and go for a hayride. Spend quality time with friends or family and take in the great outdoors before it’s too cold to even set foot outside your door.
10. Pumpkin carving
When you make your visit to the pumpkin farm, don’t forget to pick yourself up a pumpkin. Regardless of whether or not you’re crafty, pumpkins are an essential element for your fall decor.
Make sure to take advantage of all the good things that fall has to offer. Before you know it, you will be stuck in a blizzard, questioning why you live in a place where temperatures go below zero and ice chips pelt you in the face.
