It’s November, which means it’s about time for those of us to say our goodbyes to our extended summer and welcome in fall with open arms. As depressing as that may sound, it really isn’t all that bad. Here are 10 reasons to love the month of November.
1. Perfect bonfire weather: There’s nothing quite like sitting around a bonfire with good friends, good music, and the most important component: s’mores. I love a good summertime bonfire, but there’s just something about a chilly fall night that makes a bonfire way better.
2. Holiday season: Holiday movies. Holiday music. Holiday parties. Holiday food and drinks. Need I say more?
3. Comfort food: The dropping temperature outside means the warmer the food inside. One of my favorite things to do is curl up on the couch with a nice big bowl of homemade soup or chili. Oh and lets not forget about shamelessly stuffing our faces on Thanksgiving.
4. Leggings, sweaters, and flannels: There are very few things that give me more pleasure than being able to get away with wearing leggings for almost any occasion. The transition to wearing leggings, sweaters, flannels, cute jackets, boots, etc. definitely makes the cold weather more bearable.
5. Candles: Although I am an avid candle burner year round, there’s something much more comforting in burning seasonal scented candles as the weather get colder.
6. Black Friday & Cyber Monday: These two days are like the closest thing to Christmas morning for all of us shopaholics out there. If you can learn to handle and embrace all of the madness that black Friday can bring, like someone tackling you for the last dish towel, then you can be sure to bring home lots of goodies for bargain prices. If the very thought of black Friday gives you an anxiety attack, there’s always cyber Monday!
7. Giving thanks: It’s so easy to get caught up in all of the unimportant things in life and forget about the things that actually matter like family, health, etc. Thanksgiving is a great reminder to reflect on everything you should be thankful for in life.
8. Family time: One of my most favorite things about it being holiday season is being able to spend quality time with family. Especially being away at college, it can become very difficult to see our extended families. Getting the chance to all come together and spend time with family during the holidays is one of the main reasons that make this time of the year so special.
9. Daylight savings: I think this is pretty self-explanatory…who wouldn’t want an extra hour of sleep?
10. Leaves change: Watching nature change in front of your eyes is a crazy and beautiful thing. It’s so awesome walking outside and seeing trees that were bright green days before turn into a sea of orange, yellow, and red leaves.
I think it’s about time we all get over our post-summertime blues and embrace all of the awesome things that the month of November has to offer. Whether it’s lighting a pumpkin scented candle, or being thankful for everything we have been blessed with, it’s the little things in life that make the weather getting colder something to be excited about.
