Once Halloween ends it seems like the only thing people can think about is Christmas. As exciting as Christmas is and as fun as those holiday commercials are, there is always that holiday that is forgotten that takes place between Halloween and Christmas, Thanksgiving! So for all my Turkey lovers out there, here is a a list of ten reasons why everyone should be excited for Thanksgiving.
1. Food
Literally Thanksgiving is a holiday that is dedicated to eating, which is one of my favorite things to do. Every family does their food for Thanksgiving differently and gives a little comfort to the holiday. So go ahead and stuff your face with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and whatever else you decide to put on your table.
2. Family
Nothing is better than spending a little quality time with your family. If it's just with your parents or your whole family tree, being able to catch up with the people that love you the most is special.
3. Football
If it's tossing around the football in the backyard before dinner is served or watching the game on tv, this sport is a great way to entertain company before it's time to eat.
4. The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade
This may get a little boring as you get older, but for me nothing has more comfort than having the Parade on while making Thanksgiving dinner. Even when you are older let's admit we all get excited when we see our favorite float on the screen.
5. Leftovers
Thanksgiving is not short lived, and you should never just throw away what was not eaten. I have no problem with eating turkey sandwiches for the rest of the year.
6. The Weather
Thanksgiving is Fall's peaking moment. All of the leaves are at their prime so take it all in before the first snow wipes that all away.
7. PIE
Ok I know I already mentioned food, but pie deserves to have it's own category. Pie is the nice cherry on top to a well done Thanksgiving. All there is left to do is unbutton your pants.
8. Drunk relatives
Nothing is better than seeing your relatives having too much to drink and start dancing on tables. It's a great way to make things not awkward if you haven't seen your relatives since last Thanksgiving.
9. Naps
After consuming the greatest meal of the year, there is not a greater feeling than lying down on your couch and passing out. The food-coma is real.
10. Everyone can celebrate
Thanksgiving is great because it is not based on religion. This holiday doesn't discriminate and it really puts life in perspective by making you think about what you are truly thankful for.
