10 Reasons A Dog Makes Your Life More Awesome

Dogs come in all shapes and sizes and have the ability to put a smile on anyone's face. They didn't win the title of "Mans best friend" for nothing! These little (or big) fur balls of energy are full of love and happiness. They are first ones to greet you in the mornings, and when you get home after a long day at school. They have the power to change your mood and make your day a hundred times better. For those who have not yet experienced the joy that comes with owning a friendly four legged bestie, here are 10 reasons a dog makes your life more awesome!

1. Having a dog encourages a healthy fitness routine

Dogs require daily exercise in order to stay fit and healthy. Giving your pooch a daily walk is a great habit to get into, not only for your dog, but for you too! Dogs are active by nature, providing you with a great workout buddy and running partner.

2. Dogs enhance your mood

Spending 30 minutes a day with your furry friend can boost your mood and ward off depression. This enhances your health and overall well being.

3. They will always be your protector

Dogs are extremely loyal animals and will stop at nothing to protect their humans!

4. They can combat anxiety disorders

Many studies show that having a dog helps with anxiety. They are even used as service dogs to help individuals with debilitating anxiety. Its also been proven that petting a dog lowers heart rate and can help prevent heart attacks.

5. You will never be bored again

Having a furry friend around who never runs out of energy or love is an awesome edition to any family. They are always up for an adventure or a round of fetch.

6. Having a dog teaches you many life lessons

It takes a lot of work to own a dog. You are the sole provider for them, giving you an extremely important job. The responsibility that comes with having a dog is a great experience that can help with other aspects of your life.

7. You learn what unconditional love means

A dog's love for their owner is completely unconditional. Receiving this love is an amazing, life changing experience.

8. They will be there for you even if no one else is

Your dog is your biggest fan. They will always be in your coroner no matter what you're going through. The love and support they give is always genuine. They want nothing more than for you to be happy.

9. They can detect illness

Many dogs can detect cancer before humans can. They can even sense the oncoming of a seizure. Their extremely sensitive senses are beyond those of humans, and have even been able to save lives.

10. They can boost your immune system

That's right, poochies can actually boost your immune system and ward off colds!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
