10 Reason Why I Love A Walk To Remember

10 Reason Why I Love A Walk To Remember
MTV News

1. Have you seen Landon Carter?

Yes, he is a jerk at the beginning, but he makes up for it by the end. Not only is he attractive, but his car is too! What I would give to have a '67 Camaro. His taste in music is pretty great too.

2. The story line is unique in its own way.

In every other love story, boy finds girl. Boy falls for girl. Boy and girl end up happily ever after. In A Walk To Remember, Landon finds Jamie at a point in her life where she had finally made peace with the fact that she was dying. Jamie is just living out the rest of her days as normal as she can. Landon turns her world upside down. He shows her how to not live her days out normally, but live them out freely. He shows her so many different aspects of life that she would have not otherwise known. Their love story ends in the most uniquest way of all. Jamie spends her last days on Earth with Landon and then she goes home to be with God. A Walk To Remember does not have a happy ending, well not really. Landon goes to school to accomplish his dreams, but he loses the love of his life. It is a beautiful tragedy.

3. Jamie prays for Landon.

This part of the story line was not in the movie, but it appeared in the book. When Landon goes back to meet Jamie's father at the end of the movie, he states that he wishes Jamie would have gotten her miracle. Her dad assures him that she did. What the movie does not tell you is that Jamie prayed to God for a miracle. Something to help keep her mind off of dying. Unknowingly, she prayed for Landon Carter.

4. Jamie's miracle was Landon.

When Jamie realized that God had sent Landon as her miracle, she told Landon not to fall in love with her.She knew she was dying and she did not want him to get hurt. She selflessly tried to give up the one miracle that God sent her.

5. Landon did not listen to Jamie's warning about falling in love with her.

Even though Jamie specifically told Landon not to fall in love with her, he did it anyways. After he realized that he did not care what his friends thought about Jamie, he fell hopelessly in love with her. He stood up to his friends when they tore Jamie down.

6. Jamie is the kind of person that I aspire to be.

Jamie is selfless and caring. She is a God-fearing woman who is not afraid of dying because she knows that God is waiting for her. She makes peace with the fact that God is bringing her home before she has had the chance to live. She is modest and does not show off her body in order to get a guys attention. Jamie is not afraid to fall in love with a guy like Landon. She forgives Landon's friends for every cruel joke they played on her and every out-of-line statement they made about her. She shows Landon how to be a better man. Jamie loves freely.

7.Landon apologizes to Clay.

Landon knows when he makes a mistake and he always seems to apologize for it. Landon was the only one who stuck around to help Clay out of the water and make sure he was alright before he took off. Yes, it was Landon's fault in the first place, but Landon was a man about it and sincerely apologized to Clay Gephardt.

8. Landon stays after Jamie tells him she has cancer.

Even though Jamie kept a huge secret from him, he came back with dozens of flowers. He told Mr. Sullivan to tell Jamie that he was not going anywhere. Jamie gave him the opportunity to split, but he already loved her too much.

9. Everything that Landon did to please Jamie.

He built her a telescope to see a comet that only comes around once in a blue moon. He begged his dad, who walked out on Landon and his mother, to help Jamie. Once his dad does help, Landon goes back to thank his dad. Landon drove miles so that Jamie could be in two places at once. He faces her dad and asks Mr. Sullivan to allow him and Jamie to go on a date. He helps Jamie accomplish the number one thing on her list: getting married in the church that her parents were married in. He gives up his friends because they do not see what he saw in her. He aspires to be a better person because of Jamie. Once she dies, he does not remove his wedding band.

10. Jamie shows girls how they ought to be treated.

When Landon blows Jamie off at school, she refuses to help him with his lines. She does not allow him to treat her like a secret. He decided to be a jerk and she decided to let him figure everything out on his own. She showed girls that what is on the inside matters more than what is on the outside. Jamie never dressed provocatively to receive a man's attention. She made a guy fall in love with her for her mind and not her body.

A Walk To Remember is by far my favorite movie. I know every word and every lyric to every song. I could watch it a million times without growing tired of it. Landon's and Jamie's love story was imperfectly perfect. Oh, and Shane West and Mandy Moore don't suck too bad either. I could not imagine anyone else playing the parts of Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan. I am probably a bit biased, but I am pretty sure A Walk To Remember is the best love story of all time. (Thank you Nicholas Sparks).

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
