10 Practical New Years Resolutions As Told By "Hamilton"
Vanity

Congratulations, the holiday season is basically over! The elephant is in the room and now it's time to start working on some New Year's Resolutions. (unified groan) Listen, it's hard to do resolutions because so often we set the expectations for ourselves way to high. So here are 10 Practical New Year's Resolutions told through Hamilton GIFS because what other way wouldn't make you feel more inspired?

1. Make Your Bed In the Morning

This can truly change your life. Not only does this give you a feeling of accomplishment early in the morning but can make you feel at ease at the end of the day. There's nothing better that coming home to a finished bed. It looks extremely inviting and makes you sleep better.

2. Learn Something New

This can be a new skill, an art, a sport. Whatever it is it doesn't necessarily need to have a practical application in your life. Learn something new for the sake of filling your mind with a new way to see the world. It can truly be refreshing to your constant daily grind.

3. Talk Less, Smile More

Hamilton may have not been a fan, but it can be true. Sometimes we just need to allow ourself to smile more and be more willing to hear other people's point of view. That doesn't mean that your voice shouldn't be heard. The world can always use your smile just a little bit more. It'll make you happier too.

4. Remember Your Manners

I'm not talking about your table manners (which is really important too). I'm talking about being courteous to people working at the grocery store. Thanking your mailman every now and then. Being kind to your local police department. Anything that you can do to simply show more love than what is expected of you.

5. Meet New People

This can be really scary, I get it. It can be so refreshing to meet new people and have new friends. So whether that's working a summer job somewhere farther away, or joining a new church or group, or even putting yourself out there in different groups in school, there are so many ways you can meet new people.

6. Be On Time

Being on time more often is very important. So make it a priority of yours to always be EARLY to anything you go to. It saves stress to you and makes you feel more accomplished. You don't want to waste anyone else's time or your own.

7. Start a Journal

I have started and restarted this too many times than I'd like to admit. But seriously, this is extremely important. To be able to journal daily, or even weekly can be so good for you. You may not have someone to talk to all the time, so this way, your journal will always be ready for you. Also consider using this journal as a creative outlet, to let everything flow from this journal to your life.

8. Get a Mentor

This is incredibly important. If you have something, preferably older and wiser, to not coach you through life, but to be able to help guide you through life, whether that's in small things or big things, a mentor is very important. Someone who you know you can trust 100% to tell you things straight up but to love and care for you.

9. Live In the Moment

Put your phone down for a second. Allow yourself to just live. Whether it's a beautiful view of a mountain or it's at a concert just take time to relish it. I'm all for artsy photos on Instagram, but that can wait because you will never get have that same experience ever again. FACT.

10. GO!

There's no better time than right now. It's really easy to get caught up in the thinking about it part, but eventually you have to do it. Show the world that you are more than capable of succeeding because there is only one you, and you are capable of so much.

GOOD LUCK. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
