Every now and again, it's fun to kick back and watch some films that weren't heavily advertised to viewers. Some of the best films are those that are made through pure passion. Here are a few that I recommend for those days when you want to stay in.
10. Indignation
Based during World War II, Logan Lerman portrays the life of a jewish college student who decides to continue his education, rather than going to war. Between school work and love, he learns the importance of balance and maintaining healthy relationships.
9. Palo Alto
James Franco has always been the favorite brother of mine. He has a way with his films and how he makes them seem so raw and genuine. In this movie, Franco depicts the true life of high schoolers and their day to day struggles that come along with growing up.
8. Waking Life
This philosophical film takes you on a journey through the meaning of life and what it means to truly be human. It focuses on the three main branches of philosophy: epistemology, metaphysics, and ethics. From the problem of evil to free will, Waking Life is an open minded movie that explores numerous point of views and beliefs.
7. The Kings Of Summer
Everyone at some point in their lives wanted to run away from home. In this movie, the teenagers succeed in escaping from their parents and begin living in the wild. From building a home to finding food, the three boys find a way to survive. Of course, their own personal paradise begins to collapse as egos get in the way.
6. Equals
This interesting film portrays the life of two individulsl who live in a utopia where emotions do not exist. But inevitably, the two residents begin to fall for each other, leading them to their ultimate downfall.
5. Boyhood
It took twelve years for this movie to be made. Twelve years. The director follows the life of a young boy for over a decade, making it one of the most intriguing and interesting films I've ever come across.
4. Hunt For The Wilderpeople
This light-hearted comedy follows a young aorphan who has finally found his permanent home. But just as he gets comfortable with his host family, tragedy strikes, forcing him to run into the wild and survive with his adoptive father.
3. I Origins
This film tackles the idea of individuality and distinctiveness. The main character, Ian, is out to disprove God and the idea of an intelligent design. Through his research in eyes, he finds the connection between evolution and genetics, which leads him on an expedition to discover whether two humans can have identical iris'.
2. Stuck In Love
Love can be messy and complicated. Stuck In Love successfully portrays the idea of devotion through all walks of life and how everyone has their own personal baggage to deal with.
1. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Truly a masterpiece. The movie shows the life of two individuals who erase each other from their memories. This film not only leaves you speechless, but also an emotional wreck for the rest of the week.
