Language has been around for tens of thousands of years, with so many words and stories shared over time. I personally believe that sometimes, it is better to express how you feel or read what you need to hear through a quote. Because I am sure whatever you are feeling, someone has felt that why before, and they probably described it perfectly -- so why would you change perfection?
I love quotes. I have them everywhere. Wether it is a door full of quotes in my freshman dorm, or highlighted passages in a book, or books of quotes by my favorite people or authors -- it isn't to hard for me to find the right quote to say what I feel. One of my favorite authors, John Green -- who is from my hometown -- has some of the best quotes to describe every human feeling.
1. Love
2. Faith
3. Wanderlust
4. Suffering
5. Hope
6. Loss
7. Reality
8. Life
9. Compassion
10. Feelings
Of course, there are other emotions and feelings and there are other ways to express that, besides a quote. But, why try to think of what to say, when someone else has already said it perfectly.
"Maybe our favorite quotations say more about us than about the stories and people we're quoting." John Green.
Perhaps it isn't so much about not knowing what to say, but rather ourselves using quotes to figure out how we feel and who we are instead.
