Finding the motivation to do school work during the summer can be extremely difficult. When it comes to writing papers, working on projects, and studying for exams, you might find yourself doing everything you can think of besides your homework. While allowing your brain to take a break and do something that is relaxing, entertaining, or recreational is very important for your mental health, there comes a time when you have to admit that certain things you are doing fall under the category of procrastination.

Here are 10 things that definitely count as procrastination!

1. Watching Pixar movies.

This counts as procrastination if and only if you determine that it is necessary to watch all 18 movies over the course of a few weeks so each is fresh in your mind when you compile a list detailing why some of them are better than others. If you only watch your favorites a couple times over the summer, that is perfectly normal.

2. Checking Facebook...

...twelve times in one hour. You might seriously have to hide your Facebook app icon as far away from your home screen as possible to eliminate the temptation to just click it out of habit.

3. Playing Trivia Crack.

They weren't kidding. It's addictive.

4. Baking strawberries for 3 hours.

The video you saw online said they would taste just like Twizzlers--but they would be healthy! Procrastination at its finest.

5. Taking a nap.

Naps are nice. Getting a full night's sleep is better.

6. Volunteering to cut your brother's Humorous Interpretation piece.

While this is kind and helpful of you, it can definitely be done after you have studied sufficiently. Face it. This was just another ploy to watch Pixar movies.

7. Making a family tree.

Again, there is nothing inherently wrong about this. It's just not a wise thing to do the morning of a major exam.

8. Browsing the course catalog for next semester.

Unless you have not already scheduled your classes for the upcoming semester (which is a whole other procrastination issue), this can wait until after you've completed your class assignments for the day.

9. Comparing credits to see if it would be possible to change your major but never actually changing it.

This is the reason #8 is so bad.

10. Drinking a lot of water so you have to keep using the bathroom.

Don't pretend like you've never done this.

Hopefully this list put a smile on your face and encouraged you to find a balance between having fun and working hard. Happy studying!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
