I've come up with a list of healthy habits for you to incorporate into your everyday lifestyle to help you feel your best. These habits are simple and beneficial for your mind, body, and soul!

1. Get up early

Getting up early will put you in a better mindset for the day and you'll be more productive. When getting up early, you won't feel rushed in the morning, as you'll give yourself plenty of time to get everything done.

You'll have time to get ready, drink coffee, walk your dog, eat breakfast, workout, or do anything you've been meaning to get done. You'll also be up plenty of time before going to work or class, which will make you feel more awake and ready to go. It's also nice to be awake before most people as it is a quiet and peaceful time to start your day. Make it a habit to get up early to feel your best!

2. Have a positive mindset

Always start your day with a positive mindset! Always make sure you're in a good mood when you wake up and if you're not, be sure to change it. It's important to start your day on a positive note because the rest of your day is likely going to go in the same way as your morning.

Make sure to tell yourself that it's going to be a good day because if you think positively, you will have a good day. And throughout your day, if things don't go as planned, maintain your positive mindset. Don't let things get you down, it's not worth it! A positive mind brings a positive life.

3. Be passionate about everything you do

Make sure you enjoy everything you do. Even when you have to do things that aren't the most enjoyable, just think of the positivity it will bring. For example, if you have to clean your apartment and are dreading it, keep in mind that in an hour or so, you'll have a nice, clean apartment to enjoy and a clean space creates a better mindset.

Another example is if you have to write a paper for one of your classes that you just really don't want to do, remember that you'll learn while doing it, develop your writing skills, and if you do well, you'll get a good grade. This will then lead to a good grade in the class, which is one step closer to meeting your goal of getting a degree.

With that being said, there are certain things that may not be your favorite way to spend time that you can't avoid, however, if something isn't necessary, don't waste your time and do something else that you enjoy. Spend as much time as possible doing what you truly love!

4. Create a fairly consistent routine

Creating a routine will make you a more organized and productive person, which in return, creates a positive mindset. Having a consistent routine is necessary as you'll always have time allotted to get the essential tasks done.

However, while the routine is important, it's nice to switch things up as well. It's important to make time to do something you feel like doing even it's not in your regular routine. It's great to take time to go to the beach in the afternoon on a nice day or meet up with friends to get coffee. As long as you get your essential tasks done, be open to switching up your schedule sometimes.

It's all about creating a balance between routine and keeping time for whatever you feel like doing at the moment. Keeping a pretty consistent routine during the week and keeping your weekends open do whatever, is a good balance.

5. Stay organized

Keeping a planner is the best way to stay organized and be productive every day. Having a planner is essential for most people to get everything done for the day. It is beneficial to write everything down in one place to ensure it is not forgotten. As you complete tasks throughout the day, check them off the list. Completing tasks and checking them off your list will be a great feeling! This will make you feel accomplished throughout your day!

6. Eat a balanced diet

Eating a balanced diet is essential for living a healthy lifestyle. What you put in your body is what you get out. When you fuel your body with healthy, wholesome foods, you'll feel good and have plenty of energy.

It's important that you listen to your body and find which foods make you feel your best and which ones make you feel bad. Eating mostly whole foods works best, as they make you feel full and energized throughout the day.

7. Exercise daily

Doing some form of exercise every day is beneficial for not only a healthy body but also a healthy mind. When doing any type of exercise, endorphins are released, which puts you in a positive mood. Walk to places whenever possible, go for a bike ride, take your dog for a walk, or go to the gym.

These activities will keep you in shape, as well as give you time to think or clear your mind, and going to the gym will give you time to focus. When you're at the gym, you will be focused on what you're doing and challenging yourself to get stronger. This is great for your mind because you will not be not thinking about anything else. You'll feel accomplished at the end of a workout!

8. Make time for yourself to do things you love every day

This is the most important habit to create on the list! Most people are super busy throughout the day trying to accomplish as much as possible. While being productive is a key to living a healthy lifestyle, it is also extremely important to take time for yourself. It's important to take at least a little bit of time each day to relax and do something you enjoy.

This downtime will prevent you from feeling burnt out. Taking time to go for a walk, go grab a coffee, watch a show on Netflix, etc. will give you time to clear your head and enjoy yourself. During the week, there may not be a lot of time to do this, but be sure leave more time on weekends.

You could go for a hike, for a walk on the beach, to brunch, meet friends for coffee, or even do something artistic. This will give you some time for yourself, which is so important! I highly recommend leaving time to do something you enjoy each day.

9. Spend time outside

Be sure to spend time outdoors when you have some free time. This could be just going for a quick walk, spending the day hiking, or going on a camping trip. There is something about being outside that creates such a peaceful mindset. Spending time at the beach or going for a hike are some of my favorite things to do because they make me feel amazing.

10. Meditate

This does not have to be traditional mediation, it can be simply taking a bath, cooking, taking a walk, or anything that will put you in a good head space. Just be sure to take time to create a quiet, peaceful space for you to relax and clear your head.

This is a great way for to relieve stress and let go of anything bothering you. This can be done in the morning to set your intentions for the day, at night to unwind, or anytime you feel the need to take a few minutes to yourself.

Overall, to live a healthy lifestyle, remember to be positive, passionate, productive! Be sure to also take time for yourself and spend time doing what you truly love!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
