The Top 10 Frat Classics

As a now sophomore in college, I have had time do some extensive research on one of college's greatest phenomenons: fraternity parties. The smell, the sticky floors and the most crucial, fun-determinator: the music choice. There's always those songs played that you get down to, songs you hate, and the songs that you have declared at one point or another your hands-down jam. If you didn't know already, here are the top 10 fraternity "classics" that you are guaranteed to hear booming through those speakers every time you go out.

1. "Get Low" by Lil Jon
Seriously. How many times do we all need to go from the windows to the walls? This deserves the top spot on this list, not only because of it's popularity, but because it's one of the only songs that can get every person in a given room to, "Stop and wiggle 'wid it."

2. "Turn Down For What" by DJ Snake and Lil Jon
Title is basically self-explanatory here. This song can be the only song played on repeat the entire party and people would never get tired of it.

3. "Wagon Wheel" by Darius Rucker
Who knew that out of all people, Darius Rucker would remake a song that college kids everywhere would stop, put their arms around each other, and sing along to?

4. "All Night Longer" by Sammy Adams
Whenever you listen to this song, it creates an invincible mindset that has you convincing yourself that you can actually go all night longer. Whether or not that is actually the case, for the three minutes this song plays you feel like you can take on the world.

5. "Hey Ya" by OutKast
This one is the classic of all the classics. Can't go wrong ever with OutKast and what's cooler than bein' cool? (Hint: Ice Cold...?)

6. "Partition" by Beyonce
Because no party can never go with out any Beyonce or sneezing on the beat.

7. "Wasn't Me" by Shaggy
To be honest, I had no idea this song even existed before college. Now, I know every single word and sing it loud and proud with any other person, regardless of what is actually being said.

8. "No Interruption" by Hoodie Allen
This song plays usually at the beginning stages of the party when things are just about to get good. It's one of those songs that is just universally liked and determines a good night regardless.

9. "Anything Ever Sung" by Miley Cyrus Ever
You know a girl has taken control of the stereo system when "Party in the USA" starts playing through the speakers. Nothing gets me more pumped than "We Can't Stop" and nothing is more fun to act like you're cooler than you actually are to than "23." It'll be the greatest party ever when Hannah Montana is finally acceptable to play at a fraternity.

10. "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond
This is the best party-ender of all party-enders. You know that it's time to go when it's 3 a.m. and the distinctive starting beats of this song start playing. You don't know what to do with yourself because your voice is gone from screaming all night and can't sing the chorus. This song has been played at parties for years and really is the definition of "frat classic."

So there you have it. I hope you're updating your playlist (if there was even one of these you didn't have already) or nodding your head in agreement at nostalgic memories of your own fun, loud and sometimes slightly embarrassing fraternity party experiences.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
