Every university has the students that they boast of for generations after they graduate. And because UVA has been around for almost 200 years, we have quite a bunch of graduates to choose from when boasting.
Here are ten famous Hoos, some we all know about and others that I had no clue went to our dear old UVA.
1. Tina Fey, CLAS '92
I mean we all knew this was coming. She may very well be my favorite famous Hoo graduate. Thank you for choosing UVA.
2. Will Anderson, CLAS '08
If you know the band Parachute, you know that they were home-grown in Charlottesville. Their lead singer and guitarist was a music major and a Hullabahoo during his time at UVA.
3 and 4. Ronde and Tiki Barber, Comm '97
Maybe it's because I didn't follow UVA football before I got here, but I had no idea that these two NFL players went to UVA. The identical Barber twins were not only all-stars on the field, but they were both Comm majors. Oh, and on top of football and crazy majors, both Tiki and Ronde were on the Track and Field team at UVA.
5. Walter Reed, Medical 1869
Throwing it way back with the U.S. Army physician who confirmed that yellow fever is transmitted by mosquitos. Shout out for helping people live, Dr. Reed. Fun fact: Walter Reed earned his MD when he was 18 years old. That is not a typo; to this day, he is the youngest person to have ever received a medical degree from UVA.
6. Sarah Drew, CLAS '02
Not exactly the same kind of doctor as Walter Reed, but Sarah Drew plays Dr. April Kepner on Grey's Anatomy! I had no clue that she went to UVA and got a drama degree, or that she was actually born in Charlottesville. Fun fact: Sarah Drew actually got married to her husband Peter Lanfer in 2002 at the UVA Chapel.

7. Jason Winston George, CLAS '94
Yes, Greys is one of my favorite shows, but that's not why I found another actor from the show who went to UVA; he plays Dr. Ben Warren on Greys. Jason was a double major in Rhetoric and Communication Studies and Drama when he went to UVA. Also, he is a UVA Basketball fan (thank you because our team is so worth it) and he and his costar Sarah Drew use #wahoowa on twitter interactions. #soproud
8. Edgar Allen Poe, Attended 1826
Oh, our resident brooder. Edgar Allen Poe, though a brilliant author and poet, was a huge gambler and dropped out of the University after one year of being here. At least we still acknowledge he came here with his hallowed 13 West Range Room.
9. Katie Couric, CLAS '79
Everyone who goes to UVA knows about this notable alumna. Katie Couric was an English major with a focus on American Studies while at the University. She was also a sister in Delta Delta Delta, wrote for The Cavalier Daily, and was the Lawn's SR her fourth year.

10. Woodrow Wilson, Attended 1879
We claim this POTUS. President Wilson attended UVA Law School for one year before having to withdraw because of his health, and while he was here was super involved: Virginia Glee Club and the president of the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society.
