Victoria's Secret Models. Kylie Jenner's lips. Taylor Swift's legs. Selena Gomez's hair. Kim Kardashian's butt. Ariana Grande's stick figure body. Beyonce's curves. Something, anything, besides what we have.
Nowadays it is way too easy to get wrapped up in the idea of having the "perfect body." If we get too wrapped up in shaming ourselves because we do not look a certain way, there comes the point where it is almost impossible to escape something that is only getting in our way.
Instead of eating all the greens you can, running on the treadmill for six hours everyday, or trying these crazy "fad" diets to help you lose 20 pounds in two weeks, try these ten methods I've developed in order to create the "perfect" body.
1. Take a look in the mirror. You look damn good.
Whether you have "thunder thighs" or Taylor Swift's long, stick, skinny legs, you look amazing. If someone hasn't told you yet today, there you go. You look damn good.
2. Put on your favorite outfit.
Someone once told me, "skinny jeans are for skinny people," as I was wearing skinny jeans. Screw those people. Wear what you want, when you want, because you can.
3. Put on your favorite shade of makeup.
If you like it, put it on. Red lipstick on a Monday? Go for it.
4. Throw on some Beyonce. Dance it out.
Is there a problem a little Beyonce CAN'T solve? Didn't think so.
5. Smile.
Happy girls really are the prettiest.
6. Walk by a Victoria's Secret. Feel bad about it for a second. Then feel really bad because she can't eat chocolate cake like you can.
Who is the real winner here?
7. Step on the scale. Laugh. Throw it out.
8. Eat a piece of cake.
Vanilla, Chocolate, Funfetti, Red Velvet, Carrot Cake? You know what they say, "the friends that eat cake together stay together." Or something like that.
9. Dance. Walk. Run. Jump. Take the stairs. Do jumping jacks.
Because you can. You have two good legs, whether you think they're too big or too small, they work. Use them. And don't take them for granted just because they don't look the way you want them to.
10. Be happy with what you've got.
You've got you for life. Don't forget it.
So next time you see something that makes you sad, because you don't have that girl's perfect hair or perfect outfit, remember what you do have. You've got you for life and no one can take that away from you. I'm sure Beyonce even has her bad days, but don't let one bad day stop you from having the best week, month, year, or life.
Eat a piece of chocolate cake for me. If not, I'll eat your slice, too.
Love,
Someone who has accepted her body for what it is and wants you to, too.
