I love music. I'm sure if you know me at all or have read my past articles, you completely understand that. I love listening to music during good times and bad times. Music destresses me and makes me feel at peace. Sometimes music can just be listened to for fun though, and I relate to that as well. I try to listen to music when I walk to class and before I go to bed nowadays because it just always brightens my mood, no matter the band or artist. Here are 10 of my current favorite songs that never fail to put me in a great mood and or cheer me up.

1. Perfect Places by Lorde

I love this song because first of all, it's by my favorite female artist, Lorde. Second of all, it's just an upbeat song that's great to just dance like no one can see you. The lyrics are also pretty deep, but most of Lorde's lyrics are.

2. The Last Of The Real Ones by Fall Out Boy

Anyone who even barely knows me knows how much I love Fall Out Boy. I love their old music and their new music, despite the fact that some old fans say their new music sucks. This song came out just recently but I love the lyrics and the background rhythms. It feels very FOB circa Save Rock And Roll and I am into it.

3. Dancing In The Dark by Bruce Springsteen

I'm throwing it back for this next one. I love heartland rock and Bruce Springsteen is one of the epitomes of that genre. This song is laid back and such a classic in my mind. It's also one of my favorites off of his album, Born In The USA.

4. Dive by Ed Sheeran

I love this song, this album, and Ed Sheeran in general. I hope he continues making music for a really long time because I am always down to listen to Ed.

5. Nine In The Afternoon by Panic! At The Disco

This song is super old, I get it, but I do listen to this song what seems like once a day. The "Pretty. Odd." era of Panic! is definitely my favorite era. This song also reminds of when I was younger and I would sing it on one of the Rock Band games for the Wii.

6. Holding On To You by Twenty One Pilots

To me, this is the best Twenty One Pilots song of ever, but we can argue about that at a different time. This song is just fun to listen to and also fun to rap (because I actually can). It reminds me of long band bus rides in high school and that's part of why it still holds a place on my favorite songs list.

7. Anything at all from the best musical, Rent.

I went through a phase in which I exclusively listened to musicals in 8th grade. I don't regret that time in my life at all because I still love musicals, but the one that sticks with me the most is Rent. To me, it's the best and Jonathan Larson is an absolute musical genius. I was lucky enough to see it live this past spring (thanks Erik) and despite my having the flu, it was one of the best experiences of my life. So often, you'll find me listening to Rent and I'm okay with that.

8. Pink Houses by John Cougar Mellencamp

I LOVE JOHN COUGAR and this song. Again, this goes back to my loving heartland rock. We can argue about what to call John Mellencamp later (seriously this is an issue.. Is it John Cougar, John Cougar Mellencamp, or just John Mellencamp?), but just know that often times I'm listening to this song.

9. Killer Queen by Queen

I've loved Queen for a really long time and I always end up coming back to this song. A lot of my liking of it has to do with the background parts but I also just genuinely enjoy singing along to this.

10. The entirety of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours

This album could possibly be my favorite album of ever. It's iconic. I know the words to all of the songs and like 9/10 times you see me with earbuds in, I'm probably listening to this album.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
