10. Rob Riggle
Rob Riggle, known in recent affairs from 21 Jump Street and The Lorax, began his acting career in 1997 at UCB. He has starred in numerous films, such as The Other Guys, Step Brothers, and Dumb and Dumber To. In an interview done by Complex, Riggle shared: "I took a stand-up comedy class and I hated it. I thought I made a huge mistake. I thought to myself, 'Why did I give up flying for this?' Then, I went down to the UCB, saw a show called Asssscat on Sunday night and I was blown away. I was like, 'That's it, that's exactly what I want to do.' " Besides acting, Riggle is also a US Marine Corps Officer, who has served in places such as Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Liberia.
9. Ben Schwartz
Whether it's starring in House of Cards or intensely writing 3 novels, Schwartz is a star on the rise. He loves to work in comedy, and delivers that through his role as Jean-Ralphio on Parks and Recreation. He attended theatre classes at Cal and is continuing to build on his career to this day!
8. Ellie Kemper
As last seen blowing chunks in Bridesmaids, Ellie Kemper has led a successful career since Berkeley. Her comedic nature led to many acting opportunities, beginning with her one-woman show, "Feeling Sad/Mad," here at Cal. She also plays Erin Hannon in the last four seasons of The Office, while simultaneously picking up improv and comedy gigs in the areas she's in.
7. Jack McBrayer
30 Rock star Jack McBrayer began his career on the comedy frontier, he took classes in Chicago, New York, and finally in California at UC Berkeley. Often times, you can catch him spontaneously picking up improv gigs or appearing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. You can also catch this jokester on Disney and Nickelodeon, doing voice-overs for Phineas and Ferb, Wander over Yonder, and Yo Gabba Gabba.
6. Rob Corddry
Long before making you laugh your a** off in Hot Tub Time Machine, Rob Corddry did improv training at Cal. He worked with the National Shakespeare Company, but decided to take a break from his serious side to enter the comedic film field. He has appeared as a speechless zombie in Warm Bodies, Rob in Sex Tape, and numerous other films and TV shows.
5. Bobby Moynihan
Bobby Moynihan is a man of many talents. And by that I mean he can pull off a blonde wig, red lipstick, and girly voice in one of his many sketches seen on New York's Saturday Night Live. This SNL star attended Berkeley for theatre, and was quite invested until his career kicked off. He's been involved with CollegeHumor and has been a writer for numerous sketch comedies including Human Giant.
4. Aziz Ansari
Speaking of Human Giant, comedy genius Aziz Ansari began his career here after some comedy work at Berkeley. He was actually one of the creators of this show! Just a couple years ago, Ansari began getting more and more popular as his work became well known. His witty and sarcastic personality can be found on Parks and Recreation, I Love You Man, Observe and Report, and Funny People.
3. Adam Pally
Before Pally was 3 seasons deep in the hit TV series, Happy Endings, he attended UC Berkeley and was a major part of the theatre program! As a new star on the rise, there is much hope and promise for this young actor's career. In addition to Happy Endings, his resume is filled with numerous smaller improve and comedy projects that are in development.
2. Ed Helms
From face tattoos to missing teeth, this Hangover star gets it all from UCB. While studying at Berkeley, he simultaneously landed himself an agent by self-producing his own voice-overs and submitting them to acting agencies. His first role was appearing on The Daily Show, followed by The Office and The Hangover 1, 2, & 3 and many other smaller roles. Look forward to him in The Hangover 4, where more heinous sh*t is about to go down.
1. Amy Poehler
Amy Poehler, aka everyone's favorite Baby Mama, is also a fellow Bear! This esteemed actress has appeared in almost everything, such as SNL, Parks and Rec, various films (how can we forget about Mean Girls?! ) and now author. Check out her newest venture, YES PLEASE, at any bookstore with good taste!
And who said Cal Bear's were boring and not funny??
