Christmas music is one of the things I love about the holiday season. While I'm all for the classics like It's the Most Wonderful Time Of The Year and We Wish You A Merry Christmas, the songs that define Christmas to me are the ones that talk about faith and the birth of Jesus Christ. Here are a few of my favorites.

1. Mary, Did You Know

My new favorite Christmas song by far. It has a hopeful message while still sounding somewhat modern.

2. Silent Night

A classic, but still every time I hear it, I feel so safe and cozy. This is usually the last song we sing in front of my grandparent’s tree on Christmas Eve surrounded by lit candles. That moment is one of my favorites of the entire holiday season.

3.The First Noel

This tells the story of the Lord’s birth in such a beautiful way. He was born to be our Savior and hearing this song reminds me of why Christmas is such an important holiday.

4. O’Holy Night

Another story of the night of Jesus birth. It makes me imagine a cold and clear night with stars leading the wise men along. To me, any night is holy if you look for something to believe in.

5. Joy To The World

A classic and happy song that reminds us that all is good on this day and the angels in our lives are celebrating along with us, much like our Lord is within our hearts.

6. Hark The Harold Angels Sing

The Charlie Brown Christmas Carol. I watch it every year for the song, Linus’s speech and the one-liners from Lucy (I never get what I really want… real estate)

7. Do You Hear What I Hear

Not my favorite song, but it does get stuck in your head, keeping you in the holiday spirit all day long.

8. O’Come O’ Come, Emmanuel.

This song makes me think of church, which is a beautiful place during the holiday season

9. We Three Kings

I will never know all the words, but every year, my family sings it. Maybe its something about the leading and proceeding, so I will continue to listen.

10. Oh Come All Ye Faithful

Everyone needs to break out their opera voice for this song. It's a classic and I love the instrumental versions.

No matter how you celebrate the holidays, the reason is not presents or what beliefs are the right beliefs. To me, Christmas is about miracles that bring peace and love to those who need it the most. These songs remind me of this and I hope this month, you are given the reminders about what the holidays mean to you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
