I know that we have all gone through that phase where we are searching for something new to watch. It can always be a hard search to find something that actually sounds interesting to be able to spend time watching. Even though this may not sound like your cup of tea, don't knock it till you try it. Anime can be seen as something that might be kind of out there, but the storylines of these shows are truly fantastic. So here is a handful of some really good animes that are great for veterans or beginners.

1. "Yuri!!! On Ice"

If you like to watch ice skating then this anime is perfect. The animation of the ice skating is so beautiful and the storyline is so good. Also, Yuri, the main character, is truly the most relatable character I have ever seen in a show.

2. "Haikyu!!"

More of a sports anime, but this is centered around a high school volleyball club who works towards becoming a team and going to nationals. The amount of true friendship and teamwork that is in this show is so touching.

3. "Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic"

If you like Disney's "Aladdin," you will like this show. This has a very similar feel to "Aladdin," but with a little bit of a more magical feel. There are three parts to this so start with "Labyrinth of Magic," then "Kingdom of Magic," then finish with "The Adventures of Sinbad."

4. "Attack On Titan"

More of a dystopian style anime. It follows the lives of some angsty teens who have to fight giant humanoid monsters, in order to save humanity. If they fail, humanity will be extinct. If you are looking for something action-packed, this is perfect.

5. "Your Lie In April"

EMOTIONAL ALERT!!! This show will make you cry, but it is so worth it. This focuses on a pianist and a violinist who become friends. The application and visual aspects of playing these instruments are beautiful. Make sure you have a box of tissues for the last three episodes.

6. "Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma"

WARNING! Do not watch this show if you're are hungry. This show follows students who are in a top-notch cooking school. The food they make is AMAZING. I wish that these foods could actually exist. Be prepared you have to watch more than the first episode because it isn't what you are going to expect.

7. "Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club"

Taking a trip back to the sports bus, this shows follows the creation and exploration of a high school swim club. Again the friendships and storyline are fantastic. In addition, the animators make the swimming look so graceful and it's fantastic.

8. "Tokyo Ghoul"

This is a little more of a scarier anime. It focuses on Tokyo and the Ghouls, creatures who look human, but in reality are monsters that eat humans, that are terrorizing the city. It also follows a boy who becomes a Ghoul and his journey. Definitely a scarier one, so be prepared.

9. "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood"

Going into a more sci-fi style, this show follows the journey or two brothers who use alchemy to go on an adventure and help people. This show has so much comedy and suspense in it, but it is done in such a way that it works really well.

10. "Spirited Away"

This is a Studio Ghibli movie that you probably watched or saw parts of when you were a kid. This movie is just a good entry into the world of anime. It follows a girl who gets to enter the spirit world as she and her family accidentally wander into a magical world. This is just a very heartwarming and touching story.

Even though these may seem different in the beginning, give it a chance and at least watch 2-3 episodes.

Enjoy watching!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
