The 10 Best Things Your Grandparents Have
Saturday Evening Post

Recently, my family has begun the process of sorting through and cleaning out my grandparents' house. If you have ever helped a grandparent move, you will understand me when I say that there is a ridiculous amount of stuff in their home. You shake your head and say, "I will never be a hoarder like this". But you know deep down that you love the ridiculous amount of stuff in your grandparents' house, and here are some of the reasons why.

1. Every card you ever sent them...ever.

You think this is crazy, until you find the cutest note you forgot you wrote for your grandma's birthday seven years ago.

2. Coloring books you've been coloring in since you were five.

Now that the younger generation is using them, you feel a little left out.

3. Toys that belonged to your parents

This is my personal favorite because my parents are always super excited to find their old toys.

4. Antique dishes

Dishes might not be fun, but antiques are really cool. Plus, they have a practical use.

5. Baby pictures (pretty and ugly) of every kid in the family

If you didn't love your grandparents so much, it could get kind of creepy.

6. Birth certificates of people you've never even met

Umm, I think there's a point at which you say goodbye to these documents.

7. Housekeeping books

Is this where mom learned to clean?

8. Random stuff that nobody has much use for, but that one of your grandparents made

I guess they had to do something once they retired.

9. Adorable notes that your mom or dad wrote to their mom or dad when they were kids

No explanation needed here.

10. Mementos of your grandparents' and parents' lives that help you get to know them just a little bit better

There's just nothing like seeing a person's favorite memories all in one place.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
