Needless to say, summer is a quintessential part of the year. It’s filled with taking vacations, partying every day and night, hanging with friends and family and not having to worry about when your next paper is due or what grade you’ll make on your next exam. And while these things are an important part of summer, there’s one more factor that makes me love summer even more: time. There’s so much time to do literally anything, or nothing at all.
Ergo, Netflix comes in clutch. There’s an endless amount of options to stream, especially when it comes to TV shows. And when it comes to me, here are the shows that I’ll be binge watching all summer.
1. "The Office"
This is by far one of the best shows that I’ve ever watched in my whole entire life. I’ve seen it all twice, and that doesn’t stop me from being able to rewatch any episode and still find the jokes hilarious. Plus, Dwight is one of the funniest characters I’ve ever seen on TV. And Jim Halpert isn’t so bad on the eyes either. Plus, his relationship with Pam literally kills me. You don’t know what love is until you’ve seen Jim and Pam together.
2. "New Girl"
Also another wonderfully brilliant show, "New Girl" is a definite must watch. Schmidt, Nick, Coach and Winston are all the loves of my life, and Zooey Deschanel is also adorable. Plus, this show’s still running, so you can binge watch all of the seasons on Netflix and then go watch the current season on TV and see how you feel about Megan Fox temporarily becoming the star of the show.
3. "Friends"
There isn’t even an explanation needed for this. I wish everyone on this show could be my friend in real life. I watched them all for 10 seasons, and I never got tired of any of them (except for Ross occasionally). Once you start watching it, you won’t be able to stop. That’s perfectly OK, though.
4. "How I Met Your Mother"
Other than the very last episode, I love everything about this show. It’s legen—wait for it—dary.
5. "Bob’s Burgers"
I don’t watch a lot of animated shows, but this one is literally so great. Tina is so relatable and funny, and based on her character alone I would recommend this show to every single person I know.
6. "Gossip Girl"
If you know me, then you know that I love my teen drama TV shows. Along with "One Tree Hill" and "90210," "Gossip Girl" is a must watch. Something crazy happens in every single episode and it’s so stressful to watch, but I love it so much. And everyone in the cast is so freaking hot. That’s all I have to say.
7. "Grey’s Anatomy"
This is a show that I still have yet to watch, but I’ve heard so many wonderful things about it that I think I need to put it on the list anyway. Even though basically everyone dies and every episode is an emotional rollercoaster, everyone definitely needs to watch this show.
8. "Psych"
I don’t watch a lot of detective shows, but after watching the first episode of "Psych," I was hooked. Shawn and Gus are such best friend goals and are so hilarious, and even though the show is about solving murders, it is so amusing and I love it.
9. "Orange Is the New Black"
Along with "Grey’s Anatomy," I haven’t watched this show yet either. But the new season is about to come out, and that means that once it does, I can watch all the seasons at the same time. I’ll probably finish it all in less than a week.
10. "Parks and Rec"
Much like "The Office," this show is one of the funniest TV shows I have ever seen. Leslie Knope is a wonderful human, and also I love Rob Lowe. And you get to see Chris Pratt transform into a beautiful butterfly. And that’s never a bad thing.
So, even if you are doing cool things this summer, I also think that you need to take as much time as you want to watch TV. There’s literally nothing better than not moving all day (other than to walk to the fridge and the bathroom) and watching your favorite TV shows. If it sounds like I’m supporting an unhealthy lifestyle, it’s because I am. So make yourself some pizza rolls and start watching. I’m pretty sure you won’t regret it at all.
