We all have those little things that bring us eternal joy. The older I become the more I try to appreciate the little things and the simple pleasures that life has to offer. Our world can pass us by so fast and I've learned that it is really important to indulge in even the smallest of luxuries.
Laundry, fresh out of the dryer.
Nothing feels better than taking warm, fluffy towels out of the dryer and wrapping yourself up in them.
A long hot shower, after an even longer day.
I always say that warm showers can cure almost anything. There is truly nothing like it. The warm water, hot steam, scents swirling around, it's truly a therapeutic experience. You leave relaxed and squeaky clean.
Crawling into bed at the end of the day.
A bed is a sanctuary. It's where you should spend 8 hours of your day. The sensation that comes over you when you slip into the sheets is magical.
Receiving actual mail
Receiving a piece of unexpected mail is one the best surprises you can get, the suspense of opening letters always excites me.
Taking your pants/shoes/bra/entire outfit off at the end of the day.
After a long day of work/school/life the first thing you want to do is remove every piece of clothing that is latched onto your body. It's like literally "removing" the day off of you.
Taking the first bite out of your favorite meal.
I love how giddy I feel when I see my waiter bring my food to the table, biting into that meal that I have been thinking about all day is everything.
Hearing an old song play
These are the best kinds of songs, for me it's Fall Out Boy or Beyonce circa 2005. Hearing any sort of song from your younger years brings this wave of nostalgia that just makes you wanna dance.
Finally achieving a goal
It doesn't matter how small this goal is, even if it's just a list of chores. Achieving any goal long-term, or short just feels good!
Getting a completely random compliment
It could be from a complete stranger or someone you know, getting a compliment on anything can brighten your day in the smallest but best way.
Seeing someone you really missed.
Anytime I see a friend or family member for the first time in a while I always feel overwhelmed with happiness, being reunited with people is one of the most emotional experiences on the planet, don't believe me? Just watch military homecoming videos or pets being reunited with owners, you will cry.
