Everyone’s talking about “Hamilton.” And I mean everyone.Barack Obama was in the audience even before it opened on Broadway. The President of the United States doesn’t just see any old musical. I saw the second-to-last preview this past August in New York, and I WILL cry if you ask me about it.
After weeks of struggling to remember every single second of every single song, the music is HERE. Lin-Manuel Miranda, the fairy godmother of musical theatre lovers everywhere, granted our wishes when he became the Beyonce of Broadway and released the “Hamilton” cast album a week early. (I KNOW.) You no longer have to “wait for it” (ya see what I did there?) because it’s streaming on NPR here.
If you haven’t listened to it yet, do it. If you have, I probably like you a lot. The show is sung through, so you’re basically seeing a Broadway musical when you listen to it. (Lin, I tried to get this list to 96,000 for you, but I hope this will do. #YayHamlet.)
Disclaimer: Throughout the duration of this article, I struggle to express my thoughts. The musical is overwhelming, and I am often overcome with my emotions. You’ll understand when you hear it. (I couldn’t get past intermission, so here’s Act 1 according to Ellie. Forgive me.)
1. Oh, I TOTALLY know this song. I'm so excited.
2. Okay. Never mind. I thought I did.
3. Nope. I don’t know it at all.
4. At least I know the “the 10-dollar Founding Father without a father” line. That should count for something.
5. I have to memorize these lyrics before my sisters do.
6. I LOVE Anthony Ramos.
7. I also have to watch Lin performing this at the White House again. I haven’t watched it yet today.
8. WHAT’S YOUR NAME, MAN?
9. Pippa. Is. Not. Real.
10. Chris Jackson OH MY GOD.
11. Check 1, 2, 3.
12. Stop singing “Benny’s Dispatch.” (Wrong musical.)
13. Focus, Ellie.
14. JUST YOU WAAAAAAAAAIT.
15. And I’m crying. That was quick.
16. Is the line, “The world will never be the same,” about Alexander Hamilton or Lin-Manuel Miranda? Just wondering.
17. God, that was good.
18. A lot of things rhyme with Burr.
19. That’s super convenient.
20. I just love this musical.
21. “You punched the bursar.” Now I’m crying and laughing.
22. I wish Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr would offer to buy me a drink.
23. Can Leslie singing, “Talk less. Smile more,” be my text tone?
24. I STILL LOVE Anthony Ramos.
25. Oh, I know this song too.
26. Nope. Just, “I’m not throwing away my shot.” LOL.
27. How long will it take me to memorize these lyrics?
28. Wait, did you hear that?
29. I know I’m talking to myself. But did you catch that?
30. That was a “South Pacific” reference. Lin gets it.
31. I know there are more references. “Just you wait.”
32. “Oh am I talking too much?” And I’m laughing and crying again.
33. Lin’s brain has gotta be inSANE.
34. I can write a rhyme just as well as he can! Haha. Too far, Ellie.
35. I WILL tell my sister that she’s gotta rise up.
36. I’m excited for the “I’m not throwing away my shot” themed drinking games that will appear in the near future.

49. His accent is unreal.
50. He does everything with such finesse. I’m not even watching him and you just know.
51. That belt.
52. Definitely going to listen to “Spring Awakening” and watch “Frozen” after this.
53. DA DA DA DA DA.
54. Ugh. Groffsauce.
55. Even a threatening Groffsauce is a wonderful Groffsauce.
56. 32,000 is sung three times. 32,000 times three equals 96,000. No me diga.
57. George Washington. The pride of Mount Vernon. Chris Jackson. The pride of my heart.
58. Ugh to the “Pirates of Penzance” reference. Life is good.
59. “Helpless” is coming. I can feel it. (JK I’m cheating. I know because I saw it.)
60. It’s here. I’m already crying.
61. Lin tweeted that he wrote a different song for Eliza. His wife made a face when he played it for her, and he wrote “Helpless” right after. THANK YOU FOR THIS, VANESSA.
62. I LOVE this song.
63. “I’m about to change your life.” --Angelica Schuyler about Alexander Hamilton and (probably) Lin-Manuel Miranda about me with this show.
64. If Pippa isn’t nominated for a Tony, I’m quitting.
65. “At least I keep his eyes in my life.” I feel like this show is a personal attack against me. I keep crying. I am still crying. Was that your goal, Lin?
66. I want Leslie Odom Jr. to sing me to sleep every night.
67. I'm willing to wait for him. (Get it?)
68. HOW does Lin-Manuel Miranda do this? I don’t understand.
69. I have too many emotions right now.
70. I’m learning so much about 18th-century duels.
71. “Okay, so we’re doing this.”
72. He’s pissed.
73. They’re both pissed.
74. Eliza Hamilton. Ugh.
75. I want to be friends with Lin-Manuel. That would be enough.
76. Lafayette KILLS ME.
77. George Washington ALSO KILLS ME.
78. The world turned upside down after the Battle of Yorktown. The world turned upside down because of this show.
79. Spotted: Groffsauce.

86. It’s definitely the end of Act 1 right now. I can feel it.
87. “I was chosen for the Constitutional Convention!” OMG.
