It's no secret that YouTube is a huge platform in today's world. You can find funny vine montages or babies saying "I love you" for the first time and much more. YouTube has been around for years now and it's no surprise that it's picked up so much traction. Whether you are a video creator or an avid watcher, YouTube is a place where everyone is welcome.
I even think that watching YouTube is better than a streaming service like Netflix or Hulu.
My reasons?
Well first, It's free! Yes, there is a paid subscription you can get called "YouTube Red," but I'm just referring to the regular site without a subscription. You may run into some annoying ads but as long as you have a way to watch it, you do not need a single cent!
Next, The variety is endless. There are channels about gaming, magic, outdoors, fashion and beauty, sports, podcasts, the lists keep on going. There is a category or channel for you. A popular one lately is the Vlog. Who knew that simply recording a video about a day in your life could be so popular. That's a category where creators are really starting to expand on.
Also, there are literally millions and millions of videos. There comes a point when Netflix just can't keep up with what you are trying to watch but YouTube is always fresh. There is always something new and you can always find more people to watch. I don't know if I've ever been actually bored while watching YouTube before because of the constant uploading from its creators.
As a creator, you can follow your dreams. You can literally set up a camera with a mic, put it on a tripod and make a talk show. You can record yourself playing video games. There are no boundaries. I subscribe to a guy who rides a paramotor at several thousand feet above the ground, all over the world. To me, that's amazing. You don't need a huge budget or a fancy contract with a TV station. All you need is your phone and an idea. If you do it right, you can even make money while you make these videos.
Finally, YouTube is a place where music lives. Full albums, music videos, indie artists, all found on Youtube. Most music artists even have their own YouTube Channels. This includes Logic and Penetonix. Music is breeding here and that's something I'm grateful for!
So, check out some channels and binge watch some YouTube clips instead of those Netflix seasons. I promise that there is something for you to watch, you just have to find it. Get ready to laugh your butt off and tell your friends about your new favorite YouTuber. It's a place that I hope will prosper for years to come.
