Your Personality Based On Your Favorite Office Character

It's kind of politically tense right now, so I thought I'd write something light-hearted.

Your Personality Based On Your Favorite Office Character

If you're reading this, you're probably a die-hard "The Office" fan. Or maybe you're having an identity crisis, and you're looking for some right answers. Either way, you've come to the right place: a character analysis written by a 17-year old girl.

In all seriousness, "The Office" is a great example of blending character archetypes, where each person seems quite real and believable. We all probably know a Jim, or Stanley, or Toby, maybe even a Michael. Dwight is a little hard to find, unless you know anyone who owns a beet farm, and so is Creed and Kevin. But this isn't about how believable they are: it's about what their core personality traits reflect about you.

Pam

Let's start easy. If you like Pam, then you're probably a pretty nice, sweet-tempered person. You'd hate seeing anyone get hurt, and you also hate when people may not entirely like you as well (refer to S5:E16). You love harmony, productivity, and making people laugh. But of course, you have a competitive side, and don't like to be underestimated. In fact, you love proving people wrong!

Jim

Jim, aside from being every girl's dream guy, is another genuine character. You're everybody's friend, but you'll only go the extra mile for those closest to you. You're reasonable, down-to-earth, and generally light-hearted. But when you care about something, you always make sure it gets done, and done successfully.

Dwight

As unrealistic as he may be, Dwight's personality is actually pretty common. But that doesn't mean that if you like him, it's your as well. For example, I love Dwight; I think the show would be pretty much awful without him. But I can assure you, I never started a real fire to prove a point about preparation (S5:E14). If you like Dwight, then you probably admire people who are hard-working, loyal, and true to their morals and ideals. And these characteristics are probably inherent in yourself as well. You likely pride yourself on your values, and are upset when you find that others don't share the same level of dedication and passion as you do (of course you don't take out this anger in visible form). And if you're a fan of beets and extreme ping-pong, that's an extra plus. (S4:E12).

Stanley

If your favorite character is Stanley, then you value people who are stubborn and have strong opinions. And you're not wrong; where would we be without "Did I stutter?" (S4:E16). You like standing up for yourself, minding your own business, and living your life the way you want to, even if it might mean some heart attacks:/.

Andy

Andy's a mixed character; you either love him or you hate him. I personally love him, but I'm not going to impose my opinion on you. If Andy's one of your favorites, though, you're someone who likes to be liked, a similar quality to Michael. You like to be appreciated when you've done a good job, but you're willing to accept your flaws (Andy's not the best salesperson, as he said so himself on S7:E22). But you're a good person, willing to go the extra mile, and always creative in your efforts (maybe an inclination towards music?).

Oscar or Phyllis

I wouldn't say these two are entirely alike, but if either are in your top 3, then it probably says the following about you: you're rational, a rational "consumer" even (S7:E6), you're something, and you can be petty if you find the urge. Oscar and Phyllis both act as supporting characters, but give a sense of normalcy to the office, countering the various fits of emotion seen by the er- more passionate people, let's say.

Kelly or Erin

If you like Kelly or Erin, I kind of already know that you're a fan of romcoms. Or classic movies, like Mean Girls or Pretty Woman (S7:E2). You're a lovable person, and you root for other successes, as long as it doesn't clash with your own. As it is, you may be overly involved in other's lives, especially their love lives, but it's always for their own good, because you usually have BOMB advice:)

Kevin or Creed

Possible the two most underrated characters, if these are your favorite, you're a very unique person, in the best way possible. You value the little things in life, like going for a jog and getting a wave from a stranger. And you probably have superior taste in most things, especially humor. You might say things that don't make sense sometimes, and you could be a little secretive, maybe keep to yourself a little bit. But hey, it works for you, and you're happy with yourself.

Toby

Last, but certainly not least (in my opinion), is Toby. If Toby's your favorite, you're the person who walks on the edge of the sidewalk with your friends. All you want, like Andy, is a little attention and a little appreciation. And yeah, you might not have incredible taste or style, or anything unique, per se, but your incredible nice and understanding, which people often take for granted.

Michael

Just kidding! I saved the best for last: Michael Scott!! If Michael's your favorite, I think it's safe to say you probably don't identify with his personality; at least not all of it. Because he can be lazy, selfish, greedy, and greatly insensitive. But I think the whole show is about his character development, and how he has the potential to be sweet, caring, and honestly, kind of intelligent. If you love Michael, you're a warm and accepting person, full of energy, and the wish to make people smile (or laugh). You're not always sure about things, and you appreciate some help along the way, but you believe in yourself and others, and that's what counts. Keep doing you and inspiring others!

Again, these are probably not entirely accurate, but they're based on my interpretation of the show, it's plot, and characters. Of course, there are SO MANY other characters I've neglected to mention, like Nelly, David Wallace, or Gabe. But I didn't really think anyone would resonate with those...if you do however, please feel free to share!

P.S: If your favorite character is Ryan, I honestly don't have an explanation for that. He's one of the most interesting and exasperating people I've met, and my opinion of him changes each time I watch! So that's up to your interpretation:)

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
