Yes, Your Vote Does Matter

It's easy to look at the state of our country today and feel like giving up. The people of the United States are divided by politics more than ever before. The political state of our country is a little messy, and it can seem hopeless at times. Why even vote?

Despite what it may seem like, your vote matters. In fact, every single vote matters. Voting is not in vain, and it's not useless. Voting makes a difference. Everyone should get out and vote on Election Day, and here's why:

Voting is one of the most basic rights we have as American citizens. It's a privilege and an honor to live in the United States, and voting itself is a privilege. Not all people in the world are able to vote, but we are. Rather than taking it for granted, we should take full advantage of the opportunity.

As a basic right, voting is also a duty we have to our country. Any average American citizen can serve his or her country by simply showing up on Election Day and filling out a ballot. No, it may not be as exciting as licking the beater while making cookies or watching the ball drop on New Year's Eve, but it's a simple and easy way to serve our country.

The USA is a constitutional republic, meaning that the leaders of our nation are elected by the people. The very foundation of our country ensures that people have the power to decide who leads our country. Voting isn't something that the government sets up just to collect some data and waste our time. Voting is our voice, and it's a way for the government to know what we, the people, want to change in our country.

At its core, not voting is not caring. It's essentially saying that we don't care about the future of our country. Even if we don't like any of the options we see on a ballot, it's better to vote for the lesser of the two evils than not to vote at all. If no one votes, the government won't give us what we want.

The way to make a difference in our country and to see change is to vote. If you're a registered voter, go out and make a difference. It's your right, and it matters. Please go and vote on November 6th. Visit www.vote.org to find a polling place near you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
