The number of shows I have binge-watched since the beginning of quarantine is incredible. They range from "Grey's Anatomy," for the third time, to finishing "Gilmore Girls" and "Never Have I Ever."
While watching these shows I began to focus deeply on the characters and their specific personalities rather than just the plotline. Now don't get me wrong this is not me bashing any of these binge-worthy shows, in fact I loved all of the main characters. However, I believe there could have been better stories surrounding the side characters.
Below is a list of a few side characters who frankly could have made their shows ten times better.
1. Paris Geller from "Gilmore Girls"
Written the way it was, it is one of my all-time favorite shows. Rory Gilmore definitely had some interesting character development, but from the sneak peeks of Paris and her story it makes me wish I got to see more.
Her badass personality combined with her loyal characteristics makes for a perfect main character.
2. Maya Hart from "Girl Meets World"
From the start, we were given a look into Maya's troubled past and family and it only made us adore her more. She was selfless and strong in any situation.
Now I understand Riley Matthews had to be the main character considering the background of who she came from. Although it would've been nice to have a show where the main character wasn't from a perfect home and had to deal with things more relatable than we like to think.
3. Mercedes Jones from "Glee"
Now I can't lie, I loved Rachel Berry and who bubbly but tad bit selfish personality. However, Mercedes had so much potential as the main character.
Not only was her voice out of this world, but being able to stand up for yourself and fight for what you believe is a bonus. I feel not many main characters are portrayed as strong and independent, and she would've been a perfect fit for that.
