It's Almost 2018 And We Have Fidget Spinners But Not Flying Cars

Let's all cross our fingers and hope that the technology, innovations, and inventions can improve in 2018.

It's Almost 2018 And We Have Fidget Spinners But Not Flying Cars

With only a few days left in this year, we can all agree that we are not up to date on technology. It is almost 2018 and there is still so much that our day and age lacks. Didn't you think that we would have flying cars by now? But no. Our world has wasted time and money creating fidget spinners. We have fidget spinners, but not flying cars...

I am so confused as to how the human brain works when trying to think of new innovations. At least 19 million dollars have been spent on purchasing fidget spinners since April 2017. We can spend 19 million dollars on a piece of plastic, but we can't invest on new technology that is actually up to date and relevant to this century. SMH.

Here are all the things still wrong with our world at the end of 2017:

1. McDonald's ice cream machines still do not work.

2. We still do not know who killed Tupac, but we are still keeping up with the Kardashians.

3. Chipotle still does not deliver.

4. We still do not know what came first, the chicken or the egg.

5. The intelligence to figure out the difference between "reply" and "reply all" in an email.

6. Not knowing the difference between their, there and they're.

7. The technology of preventing a person from taking a screenshot and sending it to the same person.

8. We do not have flying cars, but we have fidget spinners.

9. We can't translate what dogs are barking, but we have iPhone's that recognize your face.

10. Trees that can grow money.

11. College books are still not free, but we are paying at least $10,000 for tuition.

12. It took over 20 years for Selena Quintanilla Perez to earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but we have a memorial for Harambe.

13. We still have people friendzoning, like when Drake confessed his love for Rihanna on stage at the VMAs and she was like “haha thanks” and then gave him a kiss on the cheek.

14. We still do not have a cure for asthma, but you can purchase an old lady using an inhaler wall decal.

15. People are out here struggling to make a dollar, but people can get famous in a video for not moving during the Mannequin Challenge.

16. No one believes in staying together anymore — Brad & Angelina, Fifth Harmony, One Direction...

17. We can't eliminate mosquitoes from our world, but giraffes are becoming extinct.

Let's all cross our fingers and hope that the technology, innovations, and inventions can improve in 2018. If we can spend 19 million dollars on a piece of plastic that spins on our finger, then I think we can invest our time and money into other ideas that might actually change the world, positively.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
