Both in the Midwest and home to wholesome residents, Wisconsin and Ohio share many similarities, but every state has their differences. “With God all things are possible,” so let’s advance this comparison “Forward” and learn more about these two states and ultimately why Wisconsin is better than Ohio.

Unfortunately, Ohio was the 17th state ratified in 1803, and Wisconsin wasn’t recognized until 1848, making it the 30th state. But Wisconsin still established their university first. The University of Wisconsin Madison has stood high above Ohio State since the very beginning. The Q's Top University Ranking in 2018 ranked UW — Madison #55 in the world and Ohio State was far behind in 86th place.

In addition, Madison’s library collection is almost double of that of Ohio State's. A larger library collection means more resources for students to take advantage of to succeed in their future. Lastly, UW-Madison has had 13 Nobel Peace Prize Winners, whereas Ohio State has only had 2. It can be said that if you want to go over and beyond, choose Wisconsin over Ohio.

Wisconsin is nationally known as the Badger State after their state animal, the badger. Ohio, on the other hand, is known as the Buckeye State, after their state tree. First off, what the heck is a buckeye tree and hence a Buckeye?

According to Google, a buckeye is a North American tree or shrub related to the horse chestnut, with showy yellow, red or white flowers. So we can imply that a buckeye is a nut. Obviously, when it comes to an interaction between a nut and a live animal, I would put my money on the living and be breathing mammal.

Wisconsin has significantly fewer people than Ohio with a difference of about 6 million people. In contrast, though, Wisconsin has about 66,000 square miles, whereas Ohio has around 44,000 square miles. Fewer people, but more space leads to happier residents of that state.

According to a poll from Gallup-Healthways, Wisconsin is tied for 24th as the happiest state, whereas Ohio is #44 in the ranking of the 50 states. Could this be the beautiful landscape, the various opportunities to become educated, the diversity of politics and being #1 ranked for child wellness visits to ensure a healthy future? Most likely, yes.

With the lack of diversity, nature and good sports in Ohio, it's not sounding like a great place to live. Wisconsin, on the other hand, is super friendly, has people from many backgrounds, has a football team that has won the super bowl 4 times and numerous acknowledged people that have paid back society with their talents.

Now you decide: is Wisconsin a superior and great state that can lead you to success?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
