I'm typing this article underneath the cool air conditioner in the Edmond Stanley Library at Friends University. Outside, the sun is beating down upon its victims. There is no shadow shady enough to protect us from the sun's intense rays. My thermostat reads 82°F, but with the Kansas humidity, it feels like it could be in the hundreds!

Thank goodness for ice cream!

Although I've only lived in Wichita for a couple years, I have discovered many amazing places that serve ice cream! From classic vanilla cones to unique specialties, Wichita has it all!

1. QuikTrip

Did you know an ice-cream cone from Quik Trip only costs 49 cents? It's a great deal, considering how tall they make them, too!

2. Braums

A Central Midwest classic, you can never go wrong with Braums! They're always rolling out new ice creams for various seasons. Plus, you can shop in their marketplace while sipping on your malt!

3. 8 Degrees Below

This is a new ice cream store to the area, but it's definitely the most unique. Imagine that a Mongolian grill and an ice cream store got together and had a baby. That's exactly what 8° Below is! I love going here and watching them make my ice cream and roll it up!

They have three locations in the area (701 E Douglas Ave, 2929 N. Rock Rd., and 1821 E. Madison Ave. Derby), so if you're looking for a unique experience, be sure to check this place out!

4. College Hill Creamery

I love visiting Clifton Square for many reasons and College Hill Creamery is one of them. They have a relaxing atmosphere and even serve chocolate covered coffee beans! As for their ice cream? They put the "cream" in creamery.

5. Coldstone

If you like large scoops of uniquely flavored ice cream, Coldstone is the place to be! Coldstone is my place to go whenever I feel like treating myself.

"The night is young, the school year's over, and finals are behind us. Let's celebrate with Coldstone!"

6. Yo-B Yogurt and Burgers

Once upon a time, I was a faithful customer of Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt. However, everything changed once I stepped foot inside Yo-B Yogurt and Burgers.

Imagine: twenty yogurt flavor options, a whole wall dedicated to cereals, two bars filled with fruit, candy, other toppings, AND pumps for fudge and caramel? Did I mention you can eat burgers and chicken strips here too?

Guys! This place is the best! If you don't believe me, visit it yourself in Old Town next to the Warren!

7. Sonic

Did someone say half-priced shakes???

Every night after 8 p.m., you can get a shake for half the price! Sometimes, Sonic has specials and deals which allow you to get a half-priced shake during the day!

There you have it! Go visit your favorite ice cream spot today!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
