So most people will probably skip over this, which is fine, but I must put this out there. "The Last Dance" is an absolutely phenomenal documentary that embodies the essence of sports and why they are more than just a game.
I personally grew up playing soccer, but my truest love lies with the arts. Even though I do not play anymore, I am so pleased that I did because it teaches you so much about people, the relationships between them, dependability, and being a part of a whole. This is exactly what the series captures.
The documentary follows the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan from 1991 to 1998 during their streak of winning 6 championships in 8 years. As focused as it is on those games, it is much more focused on the players and the dynamics between them. You learn about how they pushed each other, and were mostly pushed by Michael Jordan, in order to win the championship each season.
What is so intriguing about the nature of the documentary is the way in which these real people start to become characters to the viewer. You learn their personalities, and how their personalities work with each other.
What is also so interesting about sports is the amount of time people commit to them. When you are on a team, you are with those people every day, and you are expected to give your best effort to the people on your team at all times.
If you have not been on a team, it is really difficult to imagine what it is like, but this documentary will give such a realistic insight to you.
I could honestly talk about this all day, but I will not, so just watch it. Thank you.
