5 Reasons Why You Should Have A Pet

Not only are pets your best friend that give you the happiest "welcome home" but they also provide you with many things, meant to better yourself.

1. Your pet's love is unconditional

Have you ever walked into your house after a really bad day and saw your best friend sitting there with excitement in their eyes? That right there is called unconditional love. Your pet doesn't care if you've had the best day of your life or the worst day of your life. The best part is, they love you absolutely no matter what. How can you say no to those eyes?

2. It requires you to love something other than yourself

When you have a pet, you have to set aside your feelings and emotions because another living thing is depending on you. Just because you don't want to get up and take your dog for a walk or clean your cats litter box or even play with your pet, doesn't mean you can! They are depending on you to love them and you can't be a selfish person when they are a selfless animal.

3. It's an anxiety and depression reliever

Anyone who has anxiety, depression, or mental disorders can agree that having a domestic animal in your presence can not only improve existing conditions, but act as prevention for future episodes. Years of studies have shown simple petting a cat or dog can significantly lower an individual's blood pressure and even stop panic attacks!

4. They provide a support system

Your furry friend may be the only thing you have. Many people live by themselves but they know they are never alone with their best friend by their side. People move away from their friends and family but a good number of them take their best friends with them. Not only are they a familiar furry face in a new environment, but you always have a piece of your past with you.

5. You automatically have a network of fellow animal lovers

In the world, sometimes it's difficult to find your place with people like you. There are thousands of social media pages and support groups with a core of animal lovers. People become friends over any mutual interest whether it be animal related or not. Find those individuals, make connections with them, and who knows, you may gain lifelong friendships just because you all love animals.

Regardless, if you are a die-hard animal lover or simply thinking of getting a pet for the first time, find the perfect match and adopt one! I can promise you, there will never be a dull moment with your furry friend.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
