Not going to lie, when I watched the Gilmore Girls revival trailer, I almost started crying. I spent the majority of my Summer binge-watching Gilmore Girls; I became obsessed with everything Stars Hollow. Lorelai’s commentary on pretty much everything, Rory’s sweet disposition and, of course, Luke’s skepticism intrigued me - So much so that I added “Where You Lead” to my pre-exam playlist.
Although Amy Sherman-Palladino is the real MVP for writing this amazing show, my snaps go to Netflix. Their marketing and promotions team truly exceeded my expectations. The pop-up Luke’s Diner shops were genius and the official trailer was the perfect balance of nostalgia and teasers. Although it has been a long time coming (about 1 year since the announcement of the revival), the patience has paid off for all of the die-hard fans.
Each episode is approximately an hour and a half long and is divided into seasons: Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. Although the trailer got me extremely excited to finally interact with Lorelai and Rory again, a few heartaches are to happen. Richard Gilmore dies and both girls are feeling quite lost. However, Lorelai and Rory truly have it all: the wit, the understanding, the trust. There’s really nothing these two women can’t do. Lorelai and Rory embody the characteristics of a strong, healthy family, which is why we will keep watching, despite any disappointing events.
So, I apologize in advance to anyone who is trying to contact me over Thanksgiving break. I will be planted in my bed with Netflix pulled up on my Macbook and watching to see what happened to Lorelai, Rory, Luke and the rest of the gang. T-Minus less than the 1 month until the premier of the Gilmore Girls revival. Get your coffee (and your tissues) ready, folks.
