When the weather gets warmer, you start to get tanner and your responsibilities seem to shorten, it's the happiest time of the year for some of us. Yours may be winter due to Christmas and snow, but mine is summer because of multiple, relatable things.
1. The ice cream man/woman is out.
Seriously, thinking about the jingle I hear every other day just gets me giddy. Eating a Tweety Bird ice cream bar is enough to keep me happy for the day.
2. You can tan all day under the sun.
Whether you're at the beach or pool, you can get tan just about anywhere. Sometimes a climb up to your roof is necessary to get the ultimate rays.
3. The country clubs are fully open.
This means lots of waffle fries, smoothies and trips down the slide and off the diving board.
4. Graduation party season is in full swing.
Every weekend, just about, is jam packed with multiple grad parties a day, sometimes keeping you out and about all day long. This also means eating five times your body weight in food that you don't need.
5. No school.
What's better than a break from school? Oh yeah, summer. Without the daunting homework assignments everyday you feel like a free person, unless you have a summer assignment for the next school year. But let's be honest, you probably won't do that until the week before school starts, or if you're me, the night before.
6. Baseball season is in full swing.
When your nights or afternoons are quickly consumed by memories made at the ball park, you feel as if all is right in your life for a few hours.
7. You can wear the same outfit for days without anyone knowing.
Technically you can do this whenever, but during the summer it's not only easier to get away with, but a much more freeing feeling.
8. You can live in a bathing suit.
If you live on a body of water then this is so common for all, but even having a pool at your access allows you to wake up and instantly put on your suit instead of real clothes.
9. Summer concerts.
Concerts are great all year round, but there's something about being able to wear loose, thin clothes to an outdoor concert and not worry about freezing or being incredibly hot in your jeans that you had to wear because it was 30 degrees outside.
10. You can wear just about anything you want.
During school, mostly high school, you have a dress code you must follow which may include not being allowed to wear shorts or tops that show your shoulders or stomach. But during the summer you can wear that open back, short dress you got for your birthday and not get in trouble.
11. With sun comes happiness.
If you are having a bad day or simply woke up on the wrong side of the bed, you can sit outside or go for a walk and soak up some Vitamin D and it may just turn your mood or day around.
