Megan Takes on Siena

Meet Megan: One of my hallway neighbors, beloved Bonners, and best friends here at Siena. We're practically inseparable, and being name twins has definitely helped to solidify our fast friendship. It can get a little confusing - it's a struggle when close friends respond to the same name - but I'm so blessed to have this beautiful human being by my side. We decided to take time to interview each other and find out what we love about our second home, Siena.

1) Describe Siena in five words:

Home, beautiful, cozy, lively, and saintly (haha).

2) What's your favorite spot on campus?

The Grotto and Casey's. Ten out of ten, would recommend.

3) Favorite gelato flavor from Saga?

Graham Cracker with graham crackers and chocolate chips on top.

4) What extracurriculars are you involved in?

The Bonner Program and Praise and Worship; I also recently joined Italian Club.

5) Saga's wraps or Casey's wraps?

Casey's. Is that even a question?

6) Favorite place to study?

Casey's, even though work rarely gets done there.

7) How do you stay organized/sane?

Google Calendar is God's gift to me as a college student.

8) Favorite memory so far?

I've enjoyed going on mini-adventures around campus, exploring Albany with friends, and learning that I am terrible at ping-pong. Taste-testing the majority of menu items at Starbucks has also been an absolute blast.

9) Favorite campus activity?

Praise and Worship on Wednesday nights and 7pm mass on Sundays are a blessing.

10) Advice you would give to a current high school senior?

I would tell a current high school senior that, yes, college can be stressful, but it will give you some of the best memories and some really spectacular people who are going to be there for you through it all. You'll adjust in no time, so don't worry, and you will most certainty grow and learn more about who you are. Make sure to enjoy every moment of your last year of high school, but also get excited for this wonderful new chapter in your life that's approaching.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
