11 Gifs That Express Why NOW Is The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

During autumn and winter, most people enjoy their holidays and family gatherings. The rest of us get sick and tired of all the Thanksgiving commercials and Christmas songs. Even so, there are plenty of things wonderful about this time of year that does not involve these celebrations.

1. It's autumn and winter.

Are there any better seasons? Hot chocolate, warm fires, chilling winds. I can think of no better time of the year.

2. Sales!

There are Thanksgiving sales, then after Thanksgiving sales followed by Christmas sales. I wait to do all of my shopping until Black Friday just to get a deal. I don't know about you, but I never drink sparkling cider, unless it comes in a three pack at a racked down price due to the holiday season.

3. Scrooges unite!

Everyone who loathes or doesn't celebrate these days can come complain together. Nothing like some good eye-rolling with friends when you see Christmas decorations up when it's only Nov. 1.

4. No social obligations

"Sorry, can't make the Christmas party, it's against my religion." Finally a legitimate excuse to avoid social interactions.

5. High Sabbath break

If you're like me, the Eighth Day Feast has ended and there is five months until Passover. No more missing school or work to go to church, just smooth sailing until March.

6. Saving money!

You don't have to break the bank on gifts, food and cards. All of your hard-earned cash goes to you.

7. Football

Thursday night football is also a perk to the season. It has become a sort of tradition in America to gather around the TV after Thanksgiving dinner and watch the game. Lucky for you, you don't have to share the screen with family members and your annoying young cousin. And if you're not a football fan, you have no one there to force you into watching it. It works out both ways.

8. Foods galore

Just because you don't celebrate Thanksgiving doesn't mean you can't engage in the food of the season. All the best comfort food comes out around this time, and let's not forget pumpkin spice flavored everything. I don't know about you, but that sounds pretty good to me.

9. Breaks

relaxing

Schools out, scream and shout! If you are in school you get three weeks total of pure bliss, You can just relax and enjoy the time since you are not a part of the holiday bustle.

10. Death to all bugs!

Arthropods everywhere have no escape to the threat that is the chill and frost of winter. Muhahaha! Enjoy being able to walk outside and not have to face off with a wasp or be confronted by a spider, just blissful outdoors where you can appreciate nature for once.

11. Cozy clothes

Time to pull the sweaters out the drawers and put on that onesie! The cold weather means it is time to wear all the cute scarves, jackets and boots you had to store away during the other, less wonderful half of the year.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
