I Read To Expand My Knowledge And Foster Creativity

During the school year when I was younger, my father would not allow me to watch television until it was summer. This went on until I graduated from high school. That was one of the reasons why I wished summer came sooner. Instead, I took a deep breath and read a book.

Sometimes, people might think reading can be a bore. For me, it was not. I started reading fantasy books such as Harry Potter. I was instantly drawn into the story. It wasn't just about the story but I could pick which actors played each character.

I tend to picture myself as a director because then I could visualize the setting, the voices, the character, and their clothing choices. From a young age, I would enjoy reading more than TV at the time. Not only was it accessible to me but it felt like I had a buddy. Buddy the books who would not leave my side.

From fantasy books to self-help books, I enjoy reading to expand my creativity and knowledge. For genres such as fantasy books, I could expand my creativity for book ideas. I am currently writing a chapter or two of my own story idea. Not sure if it is any good but it certainly helps me immerse myself in my writing rather than face reality.

Now, I do read self-help books and I am not ashamed. I wasn't sure why I was ashamed in the beginning. Perhaps it was because I wanted to be seen as the woman who had it all together. But, no one really does. I enjoy these books to gain advice from others. Such as motivational books and how I could focus on the present.

One of my favorite pastimes is reading, but I do not read electronically. When reading electronically, my eyes tend to be sore quite too easily. I also love the smell of a hard covered book and have it in my hands. Also, if I buy a book online and I lose my account, wouldn't that mean it's gone forever and you just lose money?

With modern technology, it is convenient to carry around, but so is a physical book. Sure, physical books can be costly but they are worth it to me. If an individual would rather not purchase a book then they could simply borrow from the library. As long as you are gaining knowledge and expanding your creativity in some way, it will be worth it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
