The first instance I can remember for when I knew I wanted to become a teacher was when I was in the 5th grade and my teacher let me grade a stack of our papers (they weren't even important just some little assignment we did). Ever since that day I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I wanted to help students learn and I also wanted to get to use the red pen. That red pen in my mind showed a status of authority. That pen gave this woman the right to either pass or fail me.
When I got into junior high I noticed that I was able to help some of my classmates with their work. I was considered one of the smart kids and when someone needed help they came to me and I enjoyed that. I liked knowing that I could help someone. And after seeing the look on someone's face when they finally understood the task was so fulfilling.
In junior high we were encouraged to start figuring out what we wanted to do with our lives. Where did we wanna go to school and what did we want to major in. That was when I knew I was gonna become a teacher I just didn't know anything specific. I just knew that I wanted to teach.
Fast forward to high school where I was forced to think farther in to what I wanted to do. I then chose to major in elementary education with a specification in mathematics. And if I had to chose a minor or if I wanted to, my minor was going to be accounting or something in that field because I enjoy working with numbers.
Okay, so back to why I chose to be a teacher.
I chose to be a teacher because I want to make a difference in this world. And what better way to do that then to shape young minds.
Every teacher I have had has impacted me. Some good and others bad. But they all prepared me in some way for my future.
So that is why I want to be a teacher.
