Many Harry Potter fans wonder why J.K. Rowling want Harry to end up with Ginny instead of Hermione. I understand why they think that way. I saw the scene when Harry held onto Hermione's hand in the medical room at Hogwarts after the basilisk paralyzed her in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. That scene made it look like the couple was Harry and Hermione. I was surprised that he fell in love with Ginny when I first saw the trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
Despite the shock, I thought about why Harry had to end up with Ginny instead of Hermione. Fortunately, I found the answer to that question. Some fans might know it as well. The Internet says that J.K. Rowling regrets that Hermione and Ron end up together. She believes that Harry and Hermione are a better match. This answer I have in mind will prove that J.K. Rowling made the right choice and her choice brought a message to light in the series.
We all know from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone / Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone that Harry's parents are dead and the Dursleys treat him unfairly. Sirius Black is his only family member left but Bellatrix destroys him in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Ron, Hermione, and the Weasleys are usually there for him by giving him the love that he needs. Harry needs to end up with Ginny so that he can have Ron, Hermione, and the Weasleys as his family, which is what he needs since the beginning of the series. If Harry ends up with Hermione instead, then Ron and the rest of the Weasleys cannot be part of Harry's family as his in-laws. Turning his friends into his family brings out the message that families do not have to be blood-related. Even though Harry's family members are dead and the Dursleys do not like him, Harry still has the love of his friends.
Hopefully, my answer will ease the fans' negativity and J.K. Rowling's regret of the two main couples.
