As a Christian speaking for other Christians, I believe that we can sometimes create a bad reputation for ourselves. We can be judgmental, and unaccepting of others. It's hard when our views on certain subjects differ from theirs.
We take to the internet to express our views before taking the time to understand others. We as Christians aren’t good people because of our faith. We are a group of individuals that know our downfalls and imperfections and acknowledge that we need a savior because of it.
I know it's important to read the Bible, go to church and understand what God says to us, but sometimes we become so concerned with the theology part of Christianity that we forget what it means to actually live it out.
We often come across as being high and mighty or better than others when we find out that someone isn’t a Christian. We put other religious groups down instead of showing them love and lifting them up. We need to remember that it is okay if someone's view differ than ours.
We don't bring others to Christ by shoving Christianity down throats, we bring others to Christ by showing them the same grace, kindness and love that our Creator shows us.
As Christians, I believe it's important to remain humble. After all, Jesus washed the disciples feet. He made a point to show us that we are not “better than others” if the Son of God never treated others as less than, why do we?
We need to remember that the first and most important job we have as Christians is to show others love. Not judgement.
We also need to remember that people see Christ in us through our actions more than our statements.
What good is being a Christian if the first thing we show others is bitterness and resentment instead of love and acceptance?
As Christians, we give more out of convenience than we do out of obedience.
We as Christians aren’t good people when we see a brother or sister struggling and don't do anything to pick them back up. We as Christians aren’t good people because we know that we will fail others and ourselves every single day. You know why? It's because we’re sinners, and sin shows us our imperfect, bitter and judgmental hearts.
Being a Christian doesn't make me a good person because my actions aren't always good. It makes me a person that acknowledges this incredible truth: I need a savior who shows me the power of grace and love, over judgment and hate.
